The story of the Chevrolet Corvette traces back to the original show car’s debut at General Motors’ 1953 Motorama. Though legendary Corvette chief engineer Zora Arkus- Duntov was working on ideas for a mid-engine Corvette by 1960, that dream didn’t become a reality until the eighth generation of the iconic American sports car—the “C8” Corvette Stingray—made its debut as a 2020 model. The latest Vette’s mid-engine design has resulted in new proportions, but classic Corvette traits including aggressive styling, a two-seat cockpit, rear-wheel drive, and a powerful V-8 engine return for this new chapter of the Corvette’s still-unfolding story.
