Description

It all started at the 1954 Autorama Show. General Motors was displaying vehicles " From the Future" as well as their current models. The lines that formed around one of these 'Future' vehicles - a deluxe station wagon - convinced them to go into production on the Chevrolet Nomad. The Nomad was the special and sporty Chevrolet 2-door sports station wagon, with 1957 as its last and final build in a three year run. The name Nomad continued but as a 4-door model from 1958 on and sold far better than in the 2-door style. All 2-door style tri-five Nomads are very collectible today and are especially highly prized as factory originals. Just 6,103 Nomad models were built for 1957, with a total three year model build of 22,375 units. The Atlantis release of the sleek 1957 Nomad captures the excitement of the late '50s drive-in scene. It is loaded with details like a small-block Chevrolet V-8 which can be done 2 ways, an opening hood, hinged rear tailgate, and rotating wheels. Build it with stock Bel Air hubcaps or the chrome reverse wheels. It comes with beautiful flame decals similar to the famous Hollingsworth Nomad.

This kit is not for the faint of heart! Many advanced modeling skills are required for completion. This kit is from old Revell tooling and never has gone together well. The sub-assemblies are ok, but the final fit is tough if not impossible. Even Atlantis has the following warning on the their website about this kit: "Made from the original vintage tooling. Features opening doors hood and trunk. Molded in white and chrome and clear. Newly tooled 1 piece rubber tires. Skill level 3. Not an easy build by any means, It features 169 parts, 1 piece body, new flame decals by Starfighter. New artwork by Brad Liesure." We will be posting a video here soon of Hpiguy's review and build. Please note despite the building issues, the first production run has sold out. We are accepting new pre-orders now with availability of early June forecasted.
