The Junkers Ju 87R-2/B-2 “Stuka” refers to closely related mid-war variants of the famous German dive-bomber, combining the standard Ju 87B-2 airframe with a long‑range “R” (Reichweite) version that carried extra fuel for anti‑shipping and extended‑range strike missions. These types of aircraft saw service mainly from 1940 onward in roles such as maritime attack, close air support, and deep interdiction during the early and middle stages of the Second World War.

The Ju 87B-2 airframe was a two‑seat, all‑metal, low‑wing monoplane with the Stuka’s distinctive inverted‑gull wings and fixed spatted undercarriage. It retained the large dive‑brakes under the wings, armored cockpit, and characteristic cranked wing planform designed to improve downward visibility in steep dives. The B‑2 used the Junkers Jumo 211 series liquid‑cooled V‑12, with the R‑2 specifically noted as having the Jumo 211D, giving around 1,200 PS but with somewhat reduced performance due to added weight. The strengthened airframe of the R‑2 allowed diving speeds up to about 600 km/h, but overall top speed dropped roughly 30 km/h compared with the earlier B‑1 because the long‑range configuration added about 700 k
