Greetings from Atlanta!

September 1, 2010: Mongoose Duster, 1968 Dart Hemi, 2010 Corvette and More!

The 1968 Dodge Dart was hot with the 440 engine, but Chrysler also made an even hotter limited number of ultra high performance Darts equipped with a Hemi engine. These were light weight Dart GTS hardtops and Chrysler noted they were "intended for use in supervised acceleration trials and not intended for general highway use" and were delivered with no warranty.

The kit features:

Optional 426 cubic inch Hemi with two carburetors or 440 cubic inch engine with single carburetor.

Stock interior, hood, wheels and suspension or racing version interior, suspension, hood with scoop and drag slicks.

Decal with factory stock markings plus drag race graphics.

Molded in white, clear and transparent red with chrome plated parts and soft black tires.

While the 1968 Dart is the much-anticipated flagship of the new Revell-Monogram kits released this month, be sure not to miss the new 2010 Corvette ZR1 and the vintage Mongoose Duster

The Corvette ZR1 is the most powerful and fastest of any factory produced Corvette in the 55 year history of Corvette production. The new LS9 engine produces 620 horsepower at 6500 rpm with a possible speed in excess of 200 mph. A new styling feature of the ZR1 is a hood with a polycarbonate window that provides a view of the top of the engines intercooler, with embossed "LS9 Supercharged" lettering. The kit has a detailed 6.2 liter V-8 supercharged engine and special wheels with new wider tires, full interior and chassis detail with four plated metal exhaust tips, and decals with colorful stock and custom graphics. The kit is molded in white, transparent red and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires.

The name Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen is synonymous with the sport of drag racing. Tom's racing career spanned 45 years and during this time he had won some of the most prestigious national titles which included the NHRA Supernationals. This Plymouth funny car was one of the most famous "Mongoose" drag racing machines of the seventies. With a highly detailed blown V-8 Hemi engine and one piece tubular chassis, the kit also features an accurate Plymouth Duster funny car body with one piece hollow drag slicks. Decals with authentic drag race graphics are included and the kit is molded in white and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires.

Other kits arriving this week are Ed Roth's Beatnik Bandit and the Kurtis Kraft Indy Racer. See these and all the latest Revell-Monogram kits now in our Revell Gallery.

The Dodge Viper SRT 10 ACR (American Club Racer) is a Viper built for the hard core enthusiast. The ACR is equipped with a V-10 engine and six speed manual transmission plus and extensive aerodynamic package. This Viper is street legal, but drives just like a race car. The kit features an opening trunk and hood with a detailed interor and authentic 600bhp V-10 engine. The model also features a front splitter, fixed front dive planes, a rear wing and lightweight racing wheels. Molded in white, transparent red and clear with chrome parts and vinyl tires. More pictures and ordering information are available now in our Revell Gallery.

August 16, 2010: Tamiya Lotus Type 79 (1/20 scale)

Tamiya's much touted 1/20 scale Lotus Type 79 is now available. In 1977, Lotus developed the Type 78 "wing car" which achieved excellant results, and the 1978 Belgian Grand Prix saw the introduction of the even more evolved Type 79. It featured a rear suspension with inboard dampers, as well as repositioned the fuel tank and exhausts which helped maximize the Venturi effect. During that season, Mario Andretti took five wins to claim the driver's championship and Ronnie Peterson added another win to help the team take the constructor's title. The graceful yet innovative design of the Lotus Type 79 greatly influenced later F1 and other racing machines.

The kit Features removable front and rear cowlings to showcase the cockpit, engine and suspension. The highly detialed engine features metal air funnel covers. The realistic slick tires have accurate profiles. The kit comes with two types of steering wheels and roll bars. Decals are included to depict either # 5 or # 6 cars. For the ultimate detailer, be sure to see the Photo-Etched Parts kit available seperately. More pictures and ordering information are available now in our Other Manufacturers Gallery.

July 11, 2010: Revell 1969 Mach I Cobra Jet, 1956 Austin Healey

The Sleek '69 Mustang Mach I Cobra Jet was one of the hottest performance machines that Ford ever built. Powered by the massive 428 cubic inch V-8, the Super CJ was a boulevard rocket. Power output was in excess of 400 brake horsepower, and the excitement level was out of this world. The kit features a detailed 428 c.i. V-8 engine, interior and chassis and sports a Shaker hood with front and rear spoilers. Authentic decals with factory stock markings or optional racing graphics are included. The Austin-Healey 100-6 went into series production in 1956. The designation 100 stood for the 100 mph the sports car could reach, the 6 referred to the 6-cylinders in-line 2.7 litre engine. Compared with its predecessor model the 100-6 had the chassis stretched in the door area. The bonnet now had an integral front air intake. The engine of the six developed 117 bhp, the racy 2+2 seater reached a top speed of around 167 km/h and accelerated from 0 to 100 in just 10.7 seconds.

June 2, 2010: Revell 1962 Impala, 1967 Charger and 1939 Chevy

Style was paramount when the 1962 Chevrolet Impala made its debut. The 1962 Impala Hardtop had a new 'C' pillar styling and featured the convertible roof styling which was shared with other GM full size hardtop coupes. The new styling proved to be extremely popular and contributed to the collectability of the 1962 Impalas.

This all new Revell kit features a detailed 409 cu.in.V-8 with dual carburetors and full wheel hub caps or steel wheels with dog dish caps. It includes optional drag race headers, exhaust, roll bar and raised rear suspension with racing slick tires. The colorful decal sheet has stock and custom graphics. The kit is molded in white, transparent red, and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires.

The Dodge Charger was created in the mid-60's mainly to supply a car-buying public hungry for anything with a fastback roof. The roof, in this case, was grafted onto a mid-size car instead of a compact, and the results, surprisingly enough, were beautiful, resulting in not only a classic design on the showroom floor, but a very fast car on the race track. Powered by a 426 Hemi engine, parts are included for factory stock and race car versions. Decals include factory stock and drag race versions. The kit is molded in white, transparent red, and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires.

A favorite among motorists of the late '30's, this 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Coupe is a perfect candidate for hot rodders to modify with speed and custom equipment. This Chevy is a classic street rod that will attract attention whenever it appears. Featuring a removable hood, the kit is powered by an authentic 427 cu.in engine with GMC blower and dual carbs. The street rod is topped off with competition wheeels and custom seats. The kit is molded in white, transparent red, and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires.

The 1966 Impala Super Sport was the flag ship of the Chevrolet line in '66, and the emphasis was on performance as well as good looks. Ron also has released a wonderful 1948 Ford Humpback Sedan. This kit requires the Revell 1948 Ford Convertible for completion, but since the bumpers in the kit are chromed, chroming should not be an issue with this transkit. September 17, 2009: Model King's 1964 Paul Goldsmith Plymouth Belvedere

1964 was a great year for Plymouth Racing. Richard Petty won the Daytona 500 and went on to win the first of seven national championships in his now famous Petty blue Belvedere. However, it was not Petty, but Paul Goldsmith who set a new Daytona speed record in his bright red Belvedere clocking 174.911 mph winning the pole in the 1964 Daytona 500.

This limited reissue from Model King is basically the Nascar Racing version of the Lindberg 1964 Plymouth. Last released as the Petty Car, this kit is essential for any vintage Nascar builder. Molded in white, with all the authentic Nascar parts, this Model King Special issue was limited to 3000 pieces. Model King tells us the decal sheet is colorful and 'robust' offering opportunities to build several different cars. Pre-orders are welcome now.

Having been a modeler's favorite for decades, the original tooling AMT 1957 Chevy Belair features:

* Stock 283 Chevy Motor
* Removable Hood
* Detailed Chassis
* Accurate Interior
* Colorful Decals

Many of you recall that AMT engineered a new 1957 Chevy Tool in the 1990's. However, most veteran builders did not feel the new tooling was properly proportioned, and they started snapping up the old originals.Molded in Aqua Blue with clear and plated parts, and vinyl tires, the kit includes over 70 parts.

September 3, 2009: Rommel's Rod, 1966 Nova Street Machine, 1972 GTO, 1955 Nomad

Talk about a wild dune buggy! Here's the granddaddy of 'em all! It's Rommel's Rod, that Krazy Kommand Kar that prowled the sand of the deadly Sahara! More powerful than a Tiger Tank able to leap tall sand-dunes in a single bound, Rommel's Rod, had it been seen by the Allies, may well have turned the tide of the war. It's jam-packed with authentic, historical detail and precision molded in authentic German Afrika Korps colors. The kit features:

* Two skeletons, the driver and commander
* Decals with World War II style military markings.
* Molded in beige and clear with chrome plated parts and black vinyl tires

Rommel's Rod is a real wild "dune buggy" of WWII vintage designed by Tom Daniel. It's a half-track Kommand Kar that might have been used by the Desert Fox himself to prowl the lonely Sahara. Powered by a supercharged Mercedes engine, it sports a Mercedes front end a halftrack rear, swivel-mounted machine gun and the bleached skeletons of the Desert Fox and his driver.

Revell also released a reissue of the very popular 1965 Chevy Pickup Truck. Powered by a detailed 283 V-8 engine with optional engine parts and disc brakes, the kit features slick chrome reversed wheels with moon hubcaps and whitewall tires or five spoke mag wheels with low profile tires. This 1/25 kit is molded in white, clear and transparent red with chrome plated parts and black vinyl tires and includes decals with stock or optional custom graphics. These pick'emup trucks are shipping now!

AMT 1966 Nova Pro Street

Having been a modeler's staple for years, the AMT 1966 Nova Pro Street features:

* Tubed Chassis
* Wide Slicks
* Hi-rise Manifold
* Hood Scoop
* Displayable Engine and Stand

Since the authentic tubed chassis can easily become a platform for so many Pro Street projects, it is no wonder this kit remains a modeler's favorite. In fact, the AMT 1966 Nova Pro Street is clearly the pick of the litter of this week's releasses from Round-2 which include the 1955 Nomad and 1972 GTO . To see the all of the new kits from AMT, please visit our AMT Gallery. For ordering information on Rommel's Rod, please visit our Revell Gallery.

August 15, 2009: AMT 1933 Willys Coupe, Fruehauf Flatbed Trailer, 1986 El Camino

Featuring a supercharged motor, tilting front end, side pipes and wide tires, the 1933 Willys Coupe Street Rod had been a modeler's staple for years. Molded in yellow and including colorful decals, you can finish your model off to look like the one above. However, with a little primer and paint you can finish this bad boy off in any custom color you choose.

For you Bigrig builders out there, we have a Retro Deluxe Reissue of the AMT Fruehauf Flatbed Trailer. Many of you know that when Fred Ertl of the old ERTL company tooled up his series of AMT Bigrig trucks, he worked from actual manufacturer's blueprints. That's why these kits have unmatched authenticity in the big rig category. The Fruehauf 40 foot Heavy-Duty Platform or 'Flatbed' Trailer is no exception. Starting with a fully detailed Pro-Par F2 Three-Leaf Suspension and ending with Fruehauf 'Long Ranger' mud flaps, this kit is loaded with details. An authentic bulkhead rests over the kingpin which will fit the fifth wheel on any AMT Truck Tractor. Real metal tie down chains can be used to tie-down the three simulated steel coils included in the kit. The massive I-beam structure features rub rails with stake pockets and supports realistic woodgrain engraved flooring. Two position supports offer wheel and sand shoe options. Other features include sliding Select-A-point tandem suspension, vinyl air brake hose, Fruehauf Pro-Par Spoke Wheels, eight Authentic 10.00-20 truck tires, and an I.C.C. rear bumper. Molded in white, the kit has 120 accurately scaled parts. Top that off with colorful new decals and a groovy AMT sticker as a keepsake, and, this kit is well worth the price of admission.

This week we also announce the return of one more old friend, the MPC 1986 El Camino SS. Nothing turns heads on the street like one of these babies cruising by. The 1/25 model features an authentic engine, detailed interior and chassis. Custom options include a sleek Tonneau Cover and authentic SS trim decals. Molded in white with over 85 parts, the MPC 1986 El Camino pays proper homage to an American Classic.

Finally, we 'do hear tell' that the Rommel's Rod is 'on the water' with early September availability expected. Please get your pre-orders in now. Thanks for stopping by!

August 8, 2009: AMT 1962 Buick and 1970 1/2 Camaro in stock now!

This is your father's Oldsmobile...or rather Buick! Our friends at Round 2, who now control AMT and MPC tooling, are really starting to create some excitement in the hobby. This time, they have restored a vintage AMT kit back to (as close as possible) the original 1962 Annual kit. Apparently, they accomplished this by restoring two custom parts trees that were blocked off years ago by AMT. Many of you will recognize some of the vintage goodies and Styline parts which are now restored to this kit including: the five piece continental kit, finned brake drums, scissors jack, package tray mascot, custom headlights, deck scoop, telephone, fender skirts, side pipes, dual hood scoops, front roll pan, rear roll pan, exhaust covers, floating headrests and more.

Cruising power for this Retro Deluxe kit is supplied by Buick's super smooth 'Advanced Thrust' Wildcat V-8. Molded in white with clear, translucent red, and chrome parts, the kit even includes the original screw chassis and metal axles. Top that off with an original 'Kat' from AMT decal and a miniature model box, and you will time travel back to 1962. This is a wonderful model kit and I'm sure I felt a chill run up my leg when I opened it. If you grew up with AMT Annual kits, you can recapture your youth with this one. We will begin shipping pre-orders this week. New orders are welcome now!

This week we also received a reissued 1970 1/2 Camaro Z-28 from Round 2. This kit, directed more at the mass market, is molded in orange with clear parts, chrome parts, and black vinyl tires. The kit fetures water-release Stripe decals in two colors. The kit also includes rally wheels, bucket seats, seperate sub-frame and extensive detail throughout.

July 31, 2009: AMT Royal Rail and Revell 1932 Ford Five Window in stock now. (Read Detailed Review of '32 Ford Five Window), New Hendrix 1957 Lincoln Premier

Hi friends: both the AMT Royal Rail and the Revell 1932 Ford Five Window Coupe arrived this week. Pre-orders containing these kits are shipping now. Please keep reading for a detailed review of Revell's all new 1932 Ford Five Window Coupe. Featuring two door windows, two quarterpanel windows, and one rear window, this stylish version of the Ford 1932 Coupe was coined the 'five-window Coupe', and it became one of the most popular subjects to ever be made into a street rod. The '32 Ford, commonly called the Deuce, is the ideal street rod beacuse the original 32s were popular and had large production numbers, and they were readily available from the 40's thru the 60's. Now, due to collector demand, these cars are highly desirable and expensive.

Hungry for the five-window version of Revell's fine 1932 Ford tooling, the modeling world finally has a lot to crow about. According to master modeler and customizer Tim Boyd, who reviewed the kit on Spotlight Hobbies Message Board, "It's everything we hoped it would be!"

Boyd goes on to say, "The body casting looks perfect. The top does not appear to be chopped. The trunk area is cast open with a recessed ledge. The kit includes two trunk lids - smooth and louvered, and three sets of hood sides - stock '32 Ford, smooth and louvered.

"The interior has new side panels and seats with nicely done tuck 'n roll. The regular Revell '32 series instrument panel, steering column and wheel are included, along with a new '40 Ford IP, and '40 Ford steering wheel/column."

Boyd continues, "moving on to the new engine, it appears very similar to an early Hemi and is nicely done with 25 parts in total. Both the valley cover and intake manifild are chromed which should lead to some very sharp engines. Both the Valley Cover and Intake Manifold have engraved ribbing. The water pump is two-pieced. The headers and the seperate header flanges are chromed. The stock 5.0 litre with four barrel and Ford Motorsport Valve Covers is still there, now joined by the two-piece fuel injected manifold and air intake filter from the 1932 Fink Speedwagon, plus a second set of newly tooled 5.0 value covers with ribbed engraving." These additions give the builder three engine versions to choose from.

Boyd goes on to describe the chassis detail where we should all be greatful for his direct influence on the kit, "The chassis carries over, but with two new parts that every street rod builder has been wishing for - a great set of hairpin radius rods." (Tim openly campaigned for these with his Revell Contacts and despite some resistance due to timing and cost, the parts were added) "Those five spoke American wheels are still there, plus the no name big 'n little tires, this time with wide-whitewalls on the decal sheet. A new set of open steel rims with optional hub covers and trim rings, is included." Finally, Boyd describes some of the great extras and attention to detail. "Attention to detail is front and center with this kit. There's a piston shift lever for the Hemi, plus a four piece Moon tank and front nerf bars, and a new set of '50 Pontiac style chromed tail lamps. Decals are Revell's usual fine effort, with some very stylized pinstriping, a 'devil' figure for the grille blank, and even three different gauge decals for the '40 Ford instrument cluster.

Boyd concludes, "There's one final feature that kinda' sums up the effort on this kit. The old firewall is there, but the Revell engineers newly engraved the backside (that faces the interior) with a matching tuck 'n roll pattern. I call that attention to detail!" Well, Tim, we do as well! Thanks to you and Tom at Spotlight Hobbies for this informative review. Let's all hope this kit meets Revell's sales objectives so we can expect more of the same. MR

Ron at Hendrix manufacturing has been busy and we are the first to receive his beautiful new 1957 Lincoln Premier hardtop. The Hendrix transkit has everything you need to convert AMT's 1957 Ford into this wonderful late fifties land yacht. Specifically, the kit includes body, hood, interior tub, glass, front bench seat, front bumper/headlight assembly, rear Bumper, and stock wheels. Chrome parts are not plated. Ron tells us you may want to extend the Ford Chassis slightly. Since the resin kit features an opening hood, Ron has included a correct Lincoln battery and horn unit to give the underhood view an authentic presentation. Resin projects are only recommended for advanced builders.

Be sure to get your orders in now.

May 24, 2009: Revell Bathtub Buggy, Model King Triumph GT6+

Last issued in 1969, from front to rear, the infamous Monogram Bathtub Buggy is a plumber's nightmare and a modeler's delight. It's a spittin' image of the original George Barris 1:1 creation down to the last sparkling brass faucet! The brass-plated engine, with wild plumbing exhaust headers and intake manifold, delivers lots of horses to the wide, wide slicks. These and the wide tires up front are mounted on brass plated custom wheels. From front to rear, the chassis sports a hand sink and bathtub with candy red leaf lace design and striping. The boudoir-type seat located amidship, behind the vanity cowl with make-up mirror windshield, sports a backrest mounted on the roll bar-showerhead plumbing. Grecian styled bathroom wall lights light up the rear. The Bathtub Buggy from Revell is molded in white and features authentic soft tires all around. All metal parts are brass plated. The kit has a clear windshield with template. As mentioned above this kit was issued twice in 1969, and has not seen the light of day until this 2009, and possibly last, reissue.

And, speaking of classic kits making an unexpected return, check out the Model King Reissue of the 1/25 Lindberg Triumph GT6 +.

Introduced in 1966, The Triumph GT6 combined the sleek body of the Spitfire convertible with a fastback coupe roofline designed By Giovanni Michelotti. Powered by the smooth-shifting inline-six engine from the Triumph Vitesse, this classic sports car was often referred to as the "poor man's XKE".

The evolved GT6-MK2, or 'GT6+', as it was referred to in the US market, was released in 1969. The GT6+ offered significant refinements over the previous models. A new independent rear suspension provided much-improved handling. Under the hood, an all-new cylinder head, camshaft drive and manifolds provided a robust 104BHP. The car also got a face-lift in 1969. The front bumper was raised, and new sleek side vents were added to the front fenders and rear roof pillars.

Originally issued by Lindberg in 1979, highlights of this vintage 1/25 Model King reissue include: positional hood and doors, detailed chassis with authentic dual carb in-line six, authentic interior, and vinyl tires with accurate chrome wheels. Model King sold these out quickly as only 3000 will be produced. We will not be able to get more than our initial allocation of 180 kits. We suggest you pre-order now to avoid disappointment on this very buildable and collectable kit. We expect the kits in our warehouse in early June, but delays are possible. You can monitor the arrival on our web site in the Coming Soon Section.

Finally, this week, we have the first of the Revell 1967 Ford Fairlane 1/32 Slot Cars. This first one features a car driven by the great Mario Andretti. Mario Andretti is one of the most successful Americans in the history of auto racing. Mario is one of only two drivers to win races in the four major motor racing categories: Formula One, Indy Car, World Sportscar Championship and NASCAR, the other being Dan Gurney. He remains the only driver ever to win the Indianapolis 500, the Daytona 500, and the Formula One World Championship. With Andretti as driver the #11 Ford Fairlane won the 1967 Daytona 500.

May 7, 2009: Revell Red Baron Show Car and 1964 1/2 Mustang Convertible

Outrageous, different, groovy and boss. Here comes the famous Red Baron! This custom machine was displayed nation-wide to amazed crowds in its full size form. The crowds loved that it carried all the latest and wildest custom goodies from sunny California. From the top of the spiked helmet to the extra wide drag slicks, the Red Baron is the ultimate hot rod. The kit features a custom six cylinder engine, a miniature Fokker tri-plane kit, and Red Baron Style Decals with authentic crosses. The kit is molded in red with chrome plated parts and black vinyl tires. To see more of this kit and all the recent arrivals from Revell, be sure to visit our Revell Gallery

Introduced smack in the middle of a model year, the first Mustang was the '1964-1/2'. As most of you know, the term, 'pony car' was born. The original Mustang began as an industry wide sensation in 1964 when two sporty new performance models were offered, a classy coupe and a convertible. There were 28,833 topless Mustangs built in 1964 before the 'actual' 1965 production began. The Ford pony created unprecedented automotive excitement. There are stories of guys sleeping at Ford dealers next to or in the new Mustangs on the lot as they were not going to let anyone else get first crack at this new wonder car.

This authentic detailed Revell kit features top down with boot or classic convertible up top. The kit has an opening hood to reveal the detailed 289 cid V-8 engine. Decals include authentic factory graphics. The kit is molded in white with clear and chrome parts and black vinyl tires.

March 25, 2009: Revell Yenko Nova, AMT/MPC/Polar Lights (Round 2) kits for 2009

Yenko Chevrolet, located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, was one of the largest custom muscle car shops of the late 1960s. The Yenko cars were so popular that, in 1969, Yenko used Chevrolet's Central Office Production Order (COPO) system to have 427 cubic inch engines installed into Chevrolet Novas on the factory assembly lines. The high performance and limited production of all Yenko-customized cars makes them very valuable to collectors.

This Revell authentic replica kit features: Opening hood with detailed 427 cubic inch engine; Factory stock Magnum wheels; Decals with authentic Yenko graphics; and Molded in white and clear with chrome plated parts and black vinyl tires. The kits are in our warehouse and orders are welcome now.

We have added four more resin transkits from Hendrix Manufacturing to our Resin Roundup Gallery. These kits include a wonderful 1951 Ford Crestliner Hardtop (pictured above), a 1955 Ford Customline Sedan, a 1956 Ford 4-door Country Squire Station Wagon, and 1960 Ford 2-door Ranch Wagon (pictured below). Check out all four of these Fords now in our Resin Roundup

We also want to let you know we have begun accepting pre-orders on Round-2 and Revell kits planned for 2009. These kits are presented now in our Coming Soon Gallery. We will add new kits to this gallery as they are announced. As always, release dates are subject to change. You may place pre-orders as you place regular orders. We do not bill pre-orders until we ship. We only bill for what we ship when we ship. Thanks for stopping by!

March 16, 2009: Lindberg Gremlin Grabber

We also plan to begin accepting pre-orders on these kits this weekend. Stay tuned!

February 28, 2009: Revell 1957 Black Widow 150 Utility Sedan

The 1957 Chevrolet Automotive line had three two door versions available, the Bel Air, 210 and 150. The 150 Utility was the base model with the back seat removed for extra storage space. The 150 Utility Sedan coupled with a new Ramjet fuel injection system made a full race ready car commonly known as the 'Black Widow' because of its black and white paint color. The kit features an optional 283 V-8 engine with fuel injection or carburetor and automatic or manual transmission. Also included are Six Lug stock wheels with dog dish hubcaps. Molded crisply in white, clear and transparent red with chrome plated parts and vinyl tires, the decals include both factory stock and race graphics.

We searched the web for early reviews of the kit to provide you with more modeler-eye details, and our favorite review was Len Carsner's review in Model Car's Magazine 'On the Workbench' Forum. Carsner said, "this is a version of the venerable 57 Chevy that though it has been available in a wide variety of versions from the after-market, I for one never envisioned it would ever be done in poly-styrene plastic."

Carsner goes on to say, "Announced at iHobby 2007, the newest 1957 Chevy appears to have been worth the wait. The new kit box art is an attention getter with actual built models featured in both versions. I like the tricky way Revell has done the racecar numbers on the BW version. Though to my knowledge no one ran the No. 64 in NASCAR competition in 1957, jockeying the numbers around a bit will give you one that did."

Following many recent Revell releases, each parts tree and parts set is bagged individually. As we anticipated, this kit leverages many of the parts from Revell's popular 1956-210/Delray kit. However, the Revell designers gave great attention to detail inserting correct door panels, steering wheel and column, front seat, four-pint roll cage, dashboard with suspended brake and clutch pedal and the back seat delete floor pan.

Once again, we revert to Len Carsner's parts review from the Model Cars Magazine Workbench Online Forum. "The second parts set specifically for the BW/150 Utility Sedan also contains significant parts. Of particular importance is the correct production 1957 Chevy dual exhaust system, six lug Chevy truck weeks, rams horn exhaust headers, stock hood, core support/radiator, firewall etc. and a new 283 SBC with a heavy-duty three speed synchromesh transmission."

Carsner Continues, "the body shell is packaged separately in it's own clear bag. The bodylines and proportions look to this designer's eye to be right-on with all the reference material I've amassed on this subject. The decal sheet contains some basic stock car graphics, production scripts and badging, license plates and I'm pleased to see the factory seat/door panels fabric patterns included. Tires are period correct (read that tall and skinny) plain black donuts with no tire manufacturer markings or other surface details. Clear red taillights are included."

Be sure to check out more of Len Carsner's reviews at http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums

In other news this week, we have located a few of the Tamiya 1966 Volkswagen kits along with the Gunze 1956 Vdub and Karmann Ghia. You may check these out now in our Other Manufacturer's Gallery. While the Tamiya kit does include a detailed engine, the Gunze kits are more like unassembled curbside promos. Thanks for stopping by!

January 31, 2009: All New Revell 1970 Challenger, Fred Lorenzen Limited Edition Slot Car
Hi folks, this week we have three new kits from Revell including the all new 1970 Dodge Challenger (1/25) (2 'n 1), the all new 1968 Mustang GT (1/25) (2 'n 1), and the always popular 1969 Camaro Z-28 SS Snap Tite Kit. More detailed pictures and ordering information are available now in the Revell Gallery

The 1970 Dodge Challenger is one of the most eye-catching muscle cars ever built. The R/T model was the top performance version of the Challenger body style and the T/A was a street version of Dodge's Trans Am racecar. This 1/25 plastic kit from all new Revell tooling features an opening hood with detailed V8 engine, modelers choice of side or rear exhaust, optional parts for R/T or T/A versions, and decals with authentic factory graphics. The kit is molded in white, transparent red and clear with chrome plated parts and black vinyl tires.

Similar to the Challenger, the 1968 Mustang GT fastback design was the most revered and in demand by the pony car enthusiast. The long hood, sloping roofline and short trunk gave the 2 + 2 Fastback body style its signature sports car look. This kit, also from new Revell tooling, features an opening hood with detailed V8 engine, an optional Cobra Jet package and optional drag racing wheels, and decals with authentic period racing graphics. The kit is molded in white, transparent red and clear with chrome plated parts and black vinyl tires.

Finally, the 1969 Camaro Z/28 SS was one of the hottest-looking rides of the classic muscle car era, and showed what Chevrolet stylists could do to express performance and excitement. A cowl-induction hood was standard on the '69 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 and the available sport package had special wheels plus grille that concealed the headlights behind hinged doors. While we are not normally snap kit enthusiasts, the Revell 1969 Camaro has always been an exception to the rule. This kit features rolling wheels with metal axles and screw on chassis, Snaptite assembly, no gluing - no painting, and colorful Peel'n Stick decals. The kit is molded in yellow, black, transparent red and clear with chrome plated parts and black vinyl tires.

This week, we also have three more exciting new 1/32 Slot Cars from Revell including the Limited Edition Fred Lorenzen 1963 Ford, the Ferrari 275P and the classic Ferrari 250 GTO. You may also find more pictures and ordering information on these in the Revell Gallery

We are also now accepting pre-orders for the all new Revell kit of the 2009 Dodge Challenger. More pictures and ordering information are available now in the Coming Soon Gallery

December 9, 2008: 1980 Monte Carlo with Custom Chopper, Rupp Super Sno-Sport - Limited Production

Hi folks, the MPC 1980 Monte Carlos have arrived with the Rupp Super Sno-Sport Dragster Snowmobiles. The Monte Carlo kits include a bonus Custom Chopper and Trailer. Other features include a detailed V-8 engine, detailed chassis, and detailed interior. The body has a padded roof, removable T-top panels, and optional luggage rack. The kit has parts for stock and custom building options.

The Rupp Super Sno-Sport is an actual Snow Dragster with a powerful 525 horsepower engine, tubular chassis, tracks and skis. All authentic and all wild, the kit features a dragster-style body, custom exhausts, thermo rubber custom bucket seat and Ten Bogie Wheels. This one is a beauty and since it is non-automotive, we did not get that many. We expect to sell out quickly as pre-order demand has outpaced our forecast. We still have about 3 dozen available for new orders.

We were able to source a few more L'il Stogies and Digger Cudas from a Distributor. Our cost went up slightly. We have pre-orders covered at the debut price, and new orders can now be accepted again at the current price. Thanks for stopping by!

November 28, 2008: Hippie Hemi, Chevy Titan, 1970 Roadrunner - Limited Production

Originally issued by AMT in 1968, the Hippie Hemi Super Detailed Rail, represents everything that was going right in the Golden Age of Modeling. Now, Autoworld/Round 2, the current license holder for all vintage AMT tooling, has taken a great vintage kit and made it better. It all starts with the box. The artwork and retro detail on this box is worth the price of admission. The box top has no writing at all, just the hot artist's rendition which you see above. Many of you will remember that this kind of box top was in vogue in 1968 with both AMT and MPC. However, the box is just the beginning of what this kit offers.

Powered by a Blown and Injected Hemi, this bad boy features a see through oil pan, black rubber blower drive belt, separate crankshaft and flywheel, blower with drive and slave rotors, flexible fuel line. To Accent all this Mopar Muscle, the builder has his choice of 3 Canopys including, red tint, green tint, or clear. To top it off, high quality colorful authentic Hippie Hemi decals seal the deal. As many of you know, these new Round-2 kits are selling out fast and Hippie Hemi had the highest pre-sell of all the kits. Please order now to avoid disappointment.

You Bigrig builders are sure the love the Chevy Titan with over 250 parts. This is one of the classic AMT Blueprint Truck kits where the kit was actually designed from engineering drawings of the real truck. Powered by a Detroit Diesel Supercharged SV-71 Diesel Engine, the Titan features optional dual or single exhaust and optional round or square fuel tanks. The kit also includes a 'Dragfoiler' air deflector, authentic decals, tilting sleeper cab, 10 vinyl truck tires, detailed authentic interior with contoured high back seats, optional windshield sunshade, and, of course, the ever-present CB radio with dual antennas.

Finally, we have the reissued 1970 Superbee. AMT released this kit in 1990 as AMT 6117 (purple on the box) and never reissued this stock version. They created a nice pro-street version in 1991 AMT 6140 (lime green on the box) and reissued the Pro Street in 2003 as AMT 31929. While we believe AMT borrowed parts from the MPC version in 1990, this kit is not a reissue of the original MPC (4 'n 1) kit. Round-2 created a new retro-vintage box, and since they own licensing rights to both AMT and MPC, they decided to release this jewel under the MPC lable

Scanning the side panel, one can see some of the over 140 super-detailed 'Genuine Mopar Parts'. Starting with a 440 Six-Pack 390 HP V-8 engine and the authentic factory wheels, the kit includes a cool interior console with 'Pistol Grip' Shifter, twin hood scoops, Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, chrome exhaust tips and much, much more. This has always been a most popular kit, so please get them while you can!

November 22, 2008: 1960 Ford, Li'l Stogie, 1951 Chevy Bel Air Convertible - Limited Production

Hi friends, three more kits from Round 2 arrived in our warehouse and 3 more are in route. Today we received the 1960 Ford Starliner (2 'n 1) pictured in the headline, the 1951 Chevy Bel Air Convertible (2 'n 1), and the Li'l 'Stogie Death Valley Draggin Wagon. The following three kits are in route to us and should be available for shipping in the next two weeks including the Chevy Titan, Hippie Hemi, and 1970 Superbee. For more detailed pictures and ordering information, please visit our AMT Gallery.

Round-2 combined the stock and custom versions of the 1960 Ford into one new robust kit. They added some wonderful retro-box art to make this issue of the AMT 1960 Ford a sure future classic. Along with all the stock parts, the kit includes Custom 'Mags', Optional Valve Covers, Lake Pipes, Traction Bars, Floor Shifter, and 'Wide Oval' Tires. The builder has his choice of stock carbs, dual-four barrels, or tri-two barrels. This kit is beautiful!

Many of you know that AMT retooled this automotive classic into a perfect stock version in 2000. Then, they released a cool custom version in 2001. Now,as mentioned above, Round-2 has combined all the parts into one new Trophy Series Box. The kit is crisply molded in white, clear and chrome. It includes real vinyl tires, and colorful decals. We are shipping pre-orders now, and new orders are welcome.

Next up, and in keeping the the (2 'n 1) theme, we have the 1951 Chevy Bel Air Convertible. This fine classic kit was first issued in 1977. Collector values have soared, but now we can all afford one reissued in one of the original boxes. In fact, this reissue is actually superior to earlier issues as many of the earlier issues were produced in dark blue plastic which can be difficult to paint and limits color choices. This one is in white as most modelers prefer.

The stock and custom versions can be built top up or top down as the kit includes a boot and an up-top. Authentic custom options include the 'Stovebolt Six' motor, with twin Zenith Carbs, Nicson Intake Manifold, Dual Coil Ignition, Split Headers and Full Dual Exhaust System, Finned Valve Cover, and Low-Restriction Air Cleaners. This 'dreamboat' ragtop also features optional custom front/rear bumpers and rolled pans, csutom grille and tunnelled headlights, reversed rim wheels with moon hub-caps, wide goodyears and a dropped front. Please remember these Round-2 Reissues are limited production kits and early sell out is anticipated. For example while we still have supply, Round 2 is already sold out of 1949 Fords and Digger Cudas.

Finally, ready to ship is the L'il Stogie Death Valley Dragger Wagon. Based on a 1970's style Conestoga Wagon, this little jewel is powered by a 400 horsepower engine and travels the Wild West on Big Goodyear Gumball Slicks.

She also includes a Passel of Wild West Goodies including: Water Barrels, Injun Arrows, Bum Steer Direction Changer, Hoss Shifter, Ol' Prospector Tool Kit, Gunny Sack, Lucky Horesshoe Windshield and More. Nothing will get your mind off bad world news like this blast from the past.

Orders for all these kits are welcome now! Thanks for stopping by, Padna!

October 17, 2008: 1949 Ford Club Coupe - Private Production

The 1949 Ford was revolutionary when it was introduced in the spring of that year. After the second World War, Ford Motor Company had been producing only remodeled designs of their 1942 automobile. Sleek and slab-sided with the trademark circle in the front grille, the 1949 Ford broke from previous ideas of design and engineering. A choice of six body colors were offered for Ford's 1949 regular Ford and Custom models. All nine body styles were available in Black, Birch Gray, Midland Maroon Metallic, Sea-mist Green, Meadow Green, or Colony Blue. Custom models were available also in Bayview Blue Metallic and Gun-metal Gray Metallic. Wheels could be painted the body color at extra cost.

The AMT 1949 Ford Club Coupes from Round 2 have arrived in our warehouse and we will begin shipping this week. More pictures and ordering information are available in our AMT Gallery now. This Trophy series kit includes a detailed Ford 239 "flathead" V-8 engine, Cadillac 3-2bbl's V-8 engine, opening hood, 2 hood options, detailed interior, factory bench seat, custom bucket seats, optional roll bar, 2 grille options, 2 bumper options, factory wheels/tires, optional mag wheels/street rod tires, detailed chassis/suspension, engine stand and full color decals! Find out why the AMT 1949 Ford has been a modeler's favorite since 1962.

We also have just received both the snap and glue versions of the Polar Lights Speed Racer Mach V. The glue kit includes optional Ion-Drive Jacks to boost the car for repair, optional twin Rotary Blades to remove difficult road obstacles, a flip-open panel which reveals the Homing Robot, and, finally, an opening engine cover which reveals the Turbine Engine and Oxygen Tanks for underwater travel. The snap version does not require glue and could be the perfect beginning project for budding young modelers. Check out these new Polar Lights kits now in our Polar Lights Gallery.

October 11, 2008: Revell of Germany Neoplan Bus, Mercedes 190SL

In September 2006, 35 years after the appearance of the original model, the classic brand Neoplan launched a completely redeveloped version of the Cityliner at the IAA Commercial Vehicles. Futuristic, harmonious, distinctive, provocative--this premium class high-decker is characterized by its sharp-cut design which still incorporates the classic design elements of its predecessor. In addition to its attractive exterior, the flagship of the Neoplan Group has also been furnished with an elegant interior. The spacious, light passenger compartment together with the large side windows that are tinted from the outside allow up to 55 passengers to enjoy the landscape as it passes by. A pleasant climate is provided by a roof-mounted air conditioning system at the rear. Wide doors and steps ensure ease of entry and exit, a fully fitted galley unit is available, and a roomy onboard toilet compartment can be accessed at all times. The cockpit design is extraordinarily ergonomic and offers the driver excellent functionality. Equipped for the highest comfort and fitted with innovative technology and safety features, the pulling power of this 18,000 kg vehicle is guaranteed under all conditions by the 400 or 440 hp 6-cylinder common rail Diesel engine. Through modern modular construction and the patented tube-in-tube reinforcement a high degree of both ride stability and passenger comfort are achieved. Since 1971, more than 7,000 Cityliners have been sold worldwide.

This big bus will measure over 20 inches long when finished!

On February 6th, 1954, this racy sports coupé was launched as the little brother of the 300 SL at the Motor Sports Show in New York where it took on the rest of the sports car world. The 190 SL was a sporty and comfortable all-rounder, suitable for gentle competitions. The engine, a 1.9 litre, 4-cylinders-in-line engine with a capacity of 105 bhp (78 kW), was also appropriate to the grand touring class. It had a top speed of 170 km/h, which was sensational at that time. The elegant Cabriolet won many female hearts. From 1955 to 1963 a total of 25,881 of the type 190 SL rolled off the lines. Check out the picture below of one built nicely. Please note this is vintage Revell tooling with multipiece body parts.

Whether at the wheel of a rail or funny car, Tom McEwen is a legend in the world of speed. He has held the Speed and Elapsed Time Record seven times plus many track and class speed records at drag strips around the country. He earned his nickname after beating Don 'The Snake' Prudhomme at Lion's Dragstrip in 1964, After a series of 1965 match races, the two rivals took the show on the road. They later became partners in 'Wildlife Racing' developing savvy non-automotive business sponsorships while continuing their good-natured rivalry on the strip.

Tom's five-decade career remains one of the most dynamic and influential in drag racing. His drive and passion for going fast has changed the face of racing from pioneering nitro masks to developing large sponsorships that allow racers to make a living at what they love.

Factory stock builders will be impressed with the details. For example, the door handles and windshield wipers are separate pieces. The big decal mentioned above includes all the factory stock details one would expect including key engine markings. Molded crisply in white, chrome and clear from pristine new tooling, you will not want to miss this first issue of an automotive legend.
