Description

Damaged Box

In 1968 Porsche presented its prototype of a new mid-engine, entry-level sports car to replace the aging 912. It would be offered with either a 4 cylinder or a 6 cylinder engine. Both were boxer-style, air-cooled engines mounted between the driver and the rear axle. The distinctive styling featured a removable Targa top and a roll bar. The optional 2 liter 6 cylinder engine was offered up through 1972, while production of the 4 cylinder continued until 1976. Both engine versions demonstrated superb handling because of their mid-engine design. They also achieved successful results on the race track. In 1970, the 914/6 was voted Car of the Year, and won its class at the famous 24 hour race at Le Mans.
