1975 Corvette Convertible (1/25) (fs)
The box declares: "Last
Corvette Roadster Made" repeating what General Motors told the world
when they released the '75 C3 ragtop. Anticipating further federal
safety restrictions, Chevrolet believed it
would be Corvette's last soft-top model ever, but the convertible
returned in 1986. The return of the Convert in '86 spawned a lawsuit
from one Mr. Hansen against GM. Hansen had purchased the "GM certified"
last '75 Convertible to roll off the St. Louis assembly line in hopes of
a "collector payoff." It seems that Hansen lost the lawsuit, but
ironically, created a collector buzz around his car. The car was
recently auctioned at Mecom and went in the high 80's. It had less than
3000 miles, but Mr Hansen had not preserved it as well as it should
have been.
Hey, now, you can own a '75 Convertible and
re-create Hansen's car for 38 bucks. The majority of '75 Convertibles
where red or white. Check out the picture rotation, the last production
'75 Corvette Convertible is featured in the image rotation in position
2.
