The 1964 Belvedere is notable for being the car used to introduce the
426 Chrysler canted large-valve Hemi racing engine. This was such a
significant high-RPM breathing improvement that Hemi-equipped Plymouth
Belvederes won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at NASCAR's 1964 Daytona race. One of
the winning drivers was the famous Richard Petty.
This highly detailed model kit with 148 pieces features two engine
options, the Commando 426 and the Slant Six 225. The Commando V-8
should not be confused with the canted-Hemi 426 used exclusively in
racing this model year.
