Description

Mercedes Benz 300 SLR (1/24)

In 1954, under the leadership of Dipl. Ing. Rudolf Uhlenhaut, Mercedes-Benz developed a new racing sports car for the 1955 season. This open car designated 300 SLR relied on the technology of the current Formula I racing car. In 1955 Uhlenhaut, Head of the Test Dept at Mercedes-Benz, redesigned the 300 SLR giving it coupe bodywork with gull-wing doors. The car also had Formula I technology. Thus its 8-cylinders in-line engine, which is clearly visible under the movable hood of the model, generated all of 300 hp. In the 1950s the 300 SLR Coupe, only two examples of which were built, had a top speed of 290 km/h, making it the fastest car licensed for the road.

We received this kit in open condition from a collection. We sealed the parts inside and resealed the box for protection and care.
