1970 Plymouth Sox & Martin Superbird (1/25) Second Issue!
Take a close look at the box and you will notice the top banner has a green background. This green banner identifies the first two issues of the iconic Johan Sox and Martin Superbird. Do early releases matter? They matter to contest builders. I was at our Atlanta NNL a few years back and was talking to a very talented contest builder from Memphis. He had a '49 Ford on the table, bone stock, and drop dead gorgeous. I asked him why his 1949 stood out so much. He told me, his first secret was starting with a first edition body. Early edition bodies are cleaner, crisper, deeper, and more finely engraved than their successors. And, it only makes sense, as a mold is used, it looses detail.
This second edition, which is very early for this kit, is crisply molded in white. Most of the parts are still on the trees, and all of the parts are brilliant white, deeply engraved, mint. Similarly, the chrome is brilliant and clean with absolutely zero flash. The decals are perfect, but as with all vintage decals, we recommend coating with some kind of clear coat prior to usage. Microscale's Liquid Decal (DP127), a product we carry, was created specifically for this purpose. The box shows average shelf wear and is the actual box used for the pictures in the picture rotation. The kit is inspected and complete. Parts have been sealed inside in their respective categories to keep everything present and in tact.
