Description

Ice Cycle Show Car from Vintage MPC Tooling (1/12) (fs) While many think that George Barris designed the Ice Cycle, the real culprit was Harry Bradley. Anyone familiar with automotive customs of the 1960's and '70's knows Harry Bradley. He started his career as a custom designer at General Motors in 1962 and under various pseudonyms moonlighted and designed for the other manufacturers. For example the famous 1964 Alexa, based on a Ford Galaxy, is a Bradley design. In 1966, he was recruited to Mattel and helped launch the very successful Hot Wheels line. Some of Bradley's most famous designs include the Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile, and the Dodge Deora. The box art you see in the first picture is from the original MPC kit. Also featured is a picture of Bradley and his wife in 1954, a picture of his 1964 El Camino that he drove to California when he joined Mattel, and the 1964 Ford Alexa that he designed for the Alexander Brothers, another name familiar to model kit enthusiasts.
