For pictures and ordering information on the GTX and other recent AMT kits please see the AMT Gallery. ![]() November 24, 2004: MPC 1973 Cougar, Revell Germany Pete 359, Super Fink, 1970 Challenger 'American Dreams' Hi Folks, this week the great old MPC 1973 Cougar came in stock along with Ed Roth's Super Fink and the American Dreams 1970 Dodge Challenger. Many of you remember the MPC '73 Cougar from it's last incarnation as 'Cougar the Cat' issued in both 1982 and 1986. Those of you who really know your kit history will remember the first MPC '73 Cougar issued in 1973. Rare now, what made the original issue so unique was the pre-painted. shaded and faded paint job designed by George Barris. The only complaint about this old MPC jewel was that it was never molded in a neutral color. Well now it is, and it's a bargain at $9.50! The 1973 Cougar is one of the more beautifully styled cars from the 'square car' decade. Check out pictures now in the AMT Gallery. Don't miss the Revell of Germany Pete 359 that arrived in our warehouse today. With 318 pieces, opening hood and doors, and super-detailed Cummins Diesel, this kit is the all time favorite Pete 359 in 1/25 for serious Big Rig builders. Revell also released another Big Daddy Roth favorite with their release of SUPERFINK. I frankly cannot remember when this was issued last. The Superfink features another one of Ed's adorable Finks, but this time as a Street Surfer with Skateboard. Don't miss this classic! Finally, Revell released the beautiful lime green 1970 Challenger licensed by American Dreams, the popular NBC TV show. These 1/25 scale die cast and plastic kits are beautiful if you have not seen one. I like them because they are fun to build and so much easier to display than the cumbersome 1/18 scale. Check out the new Revell kit in the Revell Gallery now. Thanks for stopping by! ![]() November 11, 2004: White Freightliner, Pete Pacemaker, Testors 1/4 Scale Hemi and International Scout Quick update this week. We just received the White Freightliner Single Drive Cabover and the Pete Pacemaker Cabover. We also now have the International Scout from AMT. Pictures and ordering information are available now in the AMT Gallery. Finally, we just received the unbelievable 1/4 scale Hemi from Testors with over 300 parts. Revell recently announced licensing problems with their 1/6 scale Hemi, and if we read the tea leaves, it would seem that Testors must have licensed the Hemi for exclusive model kit purposes. That's speculation, but most likely true. So, for those of you who love Mopar Muscle, you now have a shot at a detailed working model of the legendary powerplant. You may check out pictures and get ordering information in the Other Manufacturer's Gallery now. What a cool gift from Santa. Thanks for stopping by! October 30, 2004: Racer's Wedge and Open Road Camper As promised, the Dealer's Choice Parts Pack which includes the Racer's Wedge and the Open Road Camper has arrived, and we will begin shipping pre-orders Monday November 1. If you have not pre-ordered this kit, you may want to now. Production was limited to 5000 pieces, and they will go fast. Don't forget the new 1972 Chevy Fleetside Pickup is the perfect host vehicle for the Wedge or the Camper. Pictures and ordering information are available now in the AMT Gallery ![]() October 23, 2004: 2004 Budweiser # 8, Revell of Germany Auto Transporter and Reefer Trailer Hi folks, the big news this week is the Revell of Germany Auto Transporter. Pricing is not finalized on these two kits and contracts are still in final negotiations. We are, however, accepting pre-orders now, and we expect both kits to come out at $14.95, but that price could change slightly once we know the final condition of the tooling. Pre-orders are not necessary at this time, but we will accomidate those of you who wish to order now. We are also accepting pre-orders on items with confirmed pricing, so you are welcome to place new orders for those items now or send us an email to update your pre-order on file if you have pre-orders on file with us. Kits include the 1970 GTO Super Stocker, the 1970 Monte Carlo (Short Track) Super Stocker, the 1964 Mercury Comet Caliente (from the old AMT Craftsman Series) and the 1970 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. This is a great 1/25 scale kit (I loved buidling it about 14 years ago), and has not been reissued for almost 15 years. It came out last in the Prestige series in 1990. The other two items from the Fall Buyers Choice are the 1973 Dodge Sportsman kit, similar to the Petty Dart, and the 1965 Bonneville. Our sources at AMT tell us these kits will be released in early December. We will begin accepting pre-orders on the other two kits in the next week. You may check out pictures of the GP and find ordering information now in the the AMT Gallery. Thanks for stopping by. We are now accepting pre-orders for the White Freightliner Single Drive Cabover and the Pete Pacemaker expected in Novemeber. Take a look at the box art in the Gallery. We anticipate the Georgia Shaker Falcon shipping near the end of this year. Many have asked, what's the difference between the Daddy Warbucks Falcon, and the Georgia Shaker Falcon? Our undertstanding is the decals will be the only difference. Revell released 6 kits this week including the much loved 1970 Mustang Boss 302, the Chaparral 2D Coupe, and the Shelby Cobra 427 SC with stock or racing windshield options. While the Chaparral is a beautiful model, it comes from older Monogram tooling and is not a highly detailed kit like the Mustang and the Cobra. Revell also, released the first of the 2004 version Nascar Monte Carlos including, the Dupont, Home Depot, and Lowes. These are 1/24 scale highly detailed kits. You may check these out now in the Revell Gallery. AMT released the first of their new series of Monster Jam Monster Trucsk. We have the Gravedigger, and the very wild looking Ninja Turtle. Pricing and ordering information is available now in the the AMT Gallery. Finally, we got a great deal on some closeout Johnny Lightning 1/24 scale 1966 Batmobiles. These were on sale at Walmart for about $19.00 and we have them for you now at $10.90 each, a deal! These are beautifully pre-painted die cast kits in 1/24 scale. Check out a pic of the box in our Polar Lights Gallery. The '72 Chevy Pickups are perfect for the Racer's Wedge and Open Road Camper which are coming in late October. The Ford C-600 Stake Bed Truck with tilt cab is a rare jewel. The C-600 kit was last issued in 1972 and the originals have a book value of $150.00. The beauty is that we can now all build this wonderful truck without taking out a second mortgage. Check out all the new releases with revised shipping schedules at the Coming Soon Gallery. Ordering information on both of these kits is in the the AMT Gallery now. September 6, 2004: Modified Stockers and Release Updates The Gremlin Modifed Stockers with the Tobias chassis have arrived in our warehouse. Since most pre-orders contain all four of the Modifieds including the Pinto, Vega, '40 Ford, and Gremlin, we are holding pre-orders with these items until we have all four. We anticipate all of the Modified Pre-orders will begin billing and shipping by September 22. We have also learned that the Hurst Hemi Under Glass will be arriving in the last week of September, so we strongly suggest pre-orders now to avoid disappointment. You also may want to take a peak at the Coming Soon Gallery as we have added several new items. The page is headlined with a picture of the Racers Wedge and the Open Road Camper which have been packaged together in the 'Dealer's Choice' Parts pack. Many of you will recognize these from the 1968 and 1969 MPC annual Chevy Pickup Trucks. Both pieces require a longbed pickup as the host vehicle. The 1972 Chevy Fleetside reissue from AMT will fit the bill perfectly. We expect to have the AMT '72 Pickups later this month, and the Racer's Wedge/Open Road Campers in October. We will be happy to combine pre-orders to save you on shipping on these way too cool reissues. Finally, for you Big Rig fans out there, we are now accepting orders on the AMT Ford C-600 Stake Bed Trucks expected in late September as well as the much anticipated private production AMT White Freightliner Cabovers and Peterbilt Pacemaker Cabovers. These latter two kits are expected in November and pre-orders are welcomed now. You can also take a peak at the Box Art for our neighbor Hubert Platt's Georgia Shaker Altered Wheelbase Falcon. On the AWB cars we are expecting the 1967 Comet first in November, followed closely by Phil Bonner's AWB Daddy Warbucks Falcon. Then, comes the AWB Tempest in December and with a little luck the Georgia Shaker Falcon in December to January. What a bunch of great stuff! As we get news, we post it here first. Also if you have not subscribed to our monthly briefings, you may want to now at the handy link below. All we need is your email address which we do not share, your Country and your general modeling interest areas. It only takes 30 seconds. Thanks for stopping by! ![]() August 28, 2004: Ridge Runner Pinto, 1965 Mustang, Revell 1/6 Engines and More Hi folks, the first fruits of the next round of Modifieds are in. The Ridge Runner Pinto with the MPC asphalt style chassis arrived this week and the next three are on the way. Those of you with pre-orders, please be patient as we are holding pre-orders for Pintos to ship with the Gremlins, 40 Fords, and Vegas. The exception is if you only ordered the Pinto. We are combining these 4 in one shipment to save you on shipping costs. We anticipate having all 4 and shipping pre-orders the week after Labor Day. For those of you who order as they come in, the Pintos are ready to roll. Find our more about our limited Private Production kits in the Coming Soon Gallery. Revell was busy this week with the release of 6 new kits including the stock 1965 Mustang 2 + 2 Fastback, the 1964 Chevy Pickup (2 'n 1), the 1967 Chevelle SS 396 (2 'n 1), Tom Daniel's Beer Wagon, and two new 1/6 Engine kits. The Engine kits are fantastic with real metal blocks. Featuring over 100 parts including real vinyl wiring and rubber belts to connect moving parts, these beautiful motors kits can be learning experiences for us all as well as great converstion pieces for the shelf. No painting is required on these engine kits which makes them fun, and glue is required which makes them challenging. The engines featured are the Ford 427 Single Overhead Cam, and the 350 Chevy Small Block. Perhaps, with the lessons learned on these 1/6 scale models, we can all improve our 1/25 scale motors. Pricing and Ordering Information on these new releases are available now in the Revell Gallery Finally, AMT released Mark Martin's colorful 2004 Viagra Taurus this week! You can check it out with the rest of the hot new AMT NASCAR kits in the the AMT Gallery. For those of you reading this on Saturday the 28th, for goodness sakes, do not forget to watch the BRISTOL Race under the lights tonight! Thanks for stopping by!
August 14, 2004: Trumpeter 1963 Novas Reviewed Our thanks to one of our customers who compared the new Trumpeter Nova kit to his own 1:1 1963 Nova. He remarked, 'without a doubt, this is the most realistic in scale model replica of a car I have ever seen. You can leave the Bare Metal Foil on your work bench, as you will not need it here.' The beauty is in the details; from the realistic chrome inserts in the dashboard and the door panels to the blueprint working hinges on the Hood and trunk, this kit will undoubtedly be a contender for best new kit of 2004. All of the badging is photo-etch, so a perfect box stock model is possible for all of us. The kit includes a Color Chart of factory stock colors from Chevrolet in 1963 coupled with a cross reference to acceptable Testors and Model Masters Paint equivalents. The model we inspected was crisp white with absolutely no flashing and bright perfect chrome. The tire wheel assembly is another high point of the kit with white wall inserts and another inner ring of black for ultimate authenticity. You gotta see it to believe it! Even the box art by Jairus Watson is top notch printed from specially commissioned paintings. The Trumpeter Nova is available as a hardtop (Trumpeter 2503) or a Convertible. (Trumpeter 2504). Please note the Convertible can only be built 'top down'. We are shipping the Trumpeter Novas now and more information about ordering is available now in the 'Other Manufacturer's Gallery'. There is definately a new kid on the block in Model Car Maufacturing. Let's hope for more. We hear Trumpeter's next effort might be a 1964 or 65 Falcon. Droool. Both of these will fit nicely on the AMT 1972 Chevy Fleetside Pickups expected later this year. Of course, with a little fiddling around, we can make these work on any 1/25 scale longbed pickups. We have also added pictures of the Gremlin Modifed, Vega Modified, Tempest Altered Wheelbase and the Comet Altered Wheelbase. Trust me, go to the Coming Soon Link. July 14, 2004: 1935 Chevy Modified Reviewed They may look like junkyard fugitives at first glance, but whether on dirt tracks or asphalt, a modified show delivers more action for your racing dollar than than just about any form of competition on wheels. The beauty of a modified goes far beyond their brightly painted racing body shells, particularly if the chassis is a custom-engineered job by leadfoot Dick 'Toby' Tobias. Being one of the top drivers and engineers of Modifed Racing, Toby knows how to crank out winners. Modelers are always looking for a great Tobias chassis and this kit is the ticket. This kit is part of a very limited private production run. Quantities are limited, so treat yourself now to this legendary model that has been fetching $175.00 on eBay. You can see more of the planned private run kits now in the Coming Soon Gallery on our web site. June 24, 2004: 2004 Bud # 8 and 35 Chevys shipping this week We hope all of our freinds in the USA had a great 4th of July Holiday! This week we have the new AMT 2004 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Monte Carlo. Later this week, we will be adding some new kits to the Coming Soon section of our web site. Look for pictures of the altered wheel base 1967 Comet as well as some pictures of our Dealer's Choice Parts pack which includes the Open Road Camper and Racers Wedge (Race Car Hauler) from AMT. We should have these pictures up by this weekend. Y'all have a great week out there! June 24, 2004: Cadillac Escalade, Ford Focus SVT, AMT Nascar Monte Carlos Hi folks, a couple of new items are in this week. From Revell we have the much anticipated Cadillac Escalades and the hot little Ford Focus SVT from Revell's Tuner Series. Check these new releases out now in the Revell Gallery. June 10, 2004: 1969 Corvair Hi folks, another quick update. The AMT 1969 Corvairs came in and are shipping now. Once again, the kit is very robust with lots of building options. Parts and instructions are included for stock, rally, mild custom and wild custom making this a (4 in 1). The kit is molded in neutral grey and the molding looks very clean and precise on the one we sampled. Two sets of wheels and tires are included, stock and mags. This kit was last issued in 1988 as part of the Prestige Series. The kit was introduced in 1969 as the regular annual and as the 'Stinger' Yenko Racer. I have not done a complete parts mapping, but it appears the Yenko parts for what they now call the Rally Version are included. Ordering information is available now in the the AMT Gallery. Thanks for stopping by! June 8, 2004: Mack DM-800 (How to build a Mack Cement Mixer) With over 290 parts, the new private production Mack DM-800 is not for the faint of heart. Big Rig lovers, will be relieved to know that this time the big-bad Mack is molded in white. The previous issues were molded in red and black which are the toughest to paint. Now, we are going to let you in on a little secret we just discovered. Remember the International Cement Mixer from AMT ?(AMT 31008 $23.90) We just found out that the frame rails for the old Mack Mixer were packed in the International Mixer. Therefore, one can easily build a Mack Cement Mixer by combining the DM-800 with the International Mixer. The Mack DM-800 is part of a very limited Private Production Run. We do have an ample supply at the moment. However, these may not last long, so you may want to act quickly to avoid disappointment. We have a few updates on the other private production kits. The 1935 Chevy Sedan Modified Stocker is still on for late June. The 1936 Chevy Coupe Modified (from MPC Wild One tooling) is expectd in mid-July. The Pinto Modified Racer (Rough Rider from MPC tooling) is now scheduled for the middle of August. We will continue to update the Coming Soon section of our web site as we receive new information. Finally, in a story of interest to car modelers, RC2 Brands owner of AMT has reached an agreement to purchase Playing Mantis owner of Polar Lights. You may see representations of both brands in their respective galleries on our web site. We perceive the annoucement as neutral to positive for Car Modelers. I would guess that RC2 is primarily interested in the lucrative Johnny Lightning Brand of diecast miniatures also owned by Playing Mantis. However, we believe that RC2 will not ignore the popular Polar Lights Model Kits. Curt Stoelting, CEO of RC2, said, "We are delighted to have reached separate agreements with both The First Years and Playing Mantis. Both of these opportunities are consistent with our strategy of acting on significant consumer trends, building consumer loyalty and generating repeat purchases while achieving a leadership position in each of our target markets." May 25, 2004: New Coors Light Intrepid Hi folks, another quick update. The new Intrepid RT from Revell is hot out of the molds. Revell also, released the first of their new Greenwood Corvette 1/32 Slot Cars. Check these new releases out now in the Revell Gallery. We will begin shipping these new items on June 2nd, in respect of Revell's official street date. We only have a very limited number of the slot cars, so we recommend that you act quickly if you need any of those. Happy Memorial Day and thanks for stopping by! May 22, 2004: Herbie the Love Bug Hi folks, just a quick update. We received, the Volkswagon Lovebug kits from Polar Lights. While glue and paint are not required, this kit is amazingly detailed featuring a detailed, engine, and chassis. Both the hood and truck open. The canvas sunroof cover, in the closed position, is optional. The scale is 1/25 and the body looks perfect. VW vans are sure to be pleased with this one. You can find complete ordering information in the Polar Lights Gallery April 24, 2004: 1969 Ford Galaxie XL, 1976 Dodge Dart Sport, GMC Astro Cabover I remember fondly the Fall of 1969 when my Grandfather brought home his shiny new 1969 Ford Galaxie 500. He purchased the car from his friend Sunny King in Anniston, Alabama. Some of you may recognize Sunny King as a large NASCAR Sponsor in the early days through the late 80's. In fact, we have Donny Allison's 1969 Torino with Sunny King Graphics as a current Polar Lights kit. When my Granddad took delivery of the car he remarked to Sunny, "Sunny, you better send that car back to Detroit, it ain't got no headlights." That was our big joke in Moody, Alabama in the Fall of 1969. Though recessed and hidden headlights were not new for 1969, even to Ford, they were absolutely new to my Grandpa Ed and most of the folks in rural Shelby County Alabama. I happen to have an original AMT 1969 Ford Galaxy in my personal collection, so I compared it to the new reissue. The original was basically a 2 in 1 with a stock and drag version. The dragster was called the Bumble Bee and was noted for the chrome velocity stacks protruding from the hood. The new one is also a two in one, but this time it's stock and custom. Surprisingly, the kits were very similar. While no reference is made to a drag version or velocity stacks in the instructions on the new reissue, when I inspected the chrome tree, there they were...velocity stacks. The drag manifold is also present though not in chrome as the original was. The hood, as we might expect, still has the under hood template to cut out if one was building the drag version. Missing from this new kit are the one-piece roll cage, the slicks, and the drag wheels. However, the new kit does have two sets of wheels including stock and custom Cobras. It also has 2 sets of tires for stock and custom. The interior is the same 'all seats molded in' that came with the original. The Bumble Bee Dragster was apparently a 'family dragster'. The modeler is, however, offered a choice of floor shifters and steering wheels. Other than the parts I noted, most everything else is there. One odd piece on the chrome tree is a wild Barris looking front grill and bumper. I cannot ever remember this front end with the '69 Galaxie as it looks a lot like the custom front that used to be in the 1965 Bonneville. It also bares resemblance to the front grill on the old Kandy Kart '57 Ford. The instructions make no reference to this phantom custom grill. All in all, the kit looks great and is recommended! You can expect some flash on the non-chrome parts trees and please note the kit is molded in a neutral primer gray. Remember, this kit was last issued about 27 years ago in the Countdown Series. We applaud AMT/ERTL/RC2's efforts to mine the old tooling! Ordering information is available now in the the AMT Gallery. Also released this week is the 1976 Dodge Dart Sport. While AMT calls it a '75 Duster, (perhaps licensing issues) experts agree it bears the most resemblance to the MPC 1976 Dart. Many MPC Mopar kits of this era 1974-1979 shared parts. The kit features two engine options, stock and a 4bbl dual quad hemi with tunnel ram induction. Only one set of wheels, Vector Turbines, are included. The big hood scoop in the picture is optional. Here's a good trivia question. What was the drag version called in the original 1976 Dart kit? It was the 'Dart Board'. Finally, AMT released the GMC Astro 95 Cabover. This kit was last issued in 1981, so, once again, we see AMT bringing gold out of the old tooling archives. Check this kit out and get ordering information in the the AMT Gallery April 17, 2004: Star Trek NX-01 glue kit with 240 pieces We just received the new very large (24 inches built) Star Trek Enterprise Tail Number NX-01. You can check out pics of the built kit now in the Polar Lights Gallery. You will also want to pop over to our Coming Soon Gallery. As promised we have some pictures of new kits coming with pre-order information on selected items. Of most interest, may be the 1935 Chevy Sedan Modified Stocker and the 1965 Barracuda Dragster Hurst Hemi Under Glass. For the Big Rig Fans we have a limited USA release of the great Revell of Germany Auto Transporter, a private production run of the Mack DM-800, and AMT's regular issue of the GMC Astro Cabover. We also have a cool 'mock up' picture of Polar Lights 1/25 scale 1965 Dodge Coronet Hardtop. While pre-orders are welcome, please remember that delays are normal, and in stock kits can easily sell out while you are waiting on pre-ordered items. You may want to consider pre-ordering unreleased items seperatly from regular in stock items. As always, thanks for stopping by! April 10, 2004: Budweiser # 8 Monte Carlo Hi folks, the only news this week is the new Budweiser # 8 Monte Carlo from Revell. We will have lots to talk about soon with some exciting private releases. The best way to stay up to date and make sure you do not miss anything is to sign up for our monthly mailing list. Here are just a few of the items on the drawing board for 2004: 1935 Chevy Sedan Modified Racer, Hurst Hemi Under Glass Barracuda, Altered Wheel Base 1965 Falcon, 1963 Chevy II hardtop and convertible, 1970 Bonneville Convertible, Mack DM-800, Revell of Germany Auto Transporter, and more. We are not able to answer emails with inquiries on these items, but we will broadcast the information to our email list as soon as we begin to take orders. We do not, nor does anyone, have precise availibility dates on these forthcoming models. Since we are participating in the financing of these private run models, we will know the real scoop first and will pass it on here and through our email broadcasts. Soooo, fasten your seatbelts; 2004 is going to be a very good year for plastic models. Thanks for stopping by! April 3, 2004: Beverly Hillbillies Truck and 1980 Monte Carlo with Chopper and Trailer Hi friends, after about a year of delays, the old MPC Beverly Hillbillies Trucks are in our warehouse and ready to ship! We are starting through the pre-order file now, and pre-orders will begin shipping on March 31. Unfortunately, the 1969 Ford Galaxies are not expected until early May. Pre-orders containing the Hillbillies Truck and the '69 Galaxie will be held for arrival of the Galaxie unless you direct us otherwise. Finally, we expect to have the corrected chrome for the Trumpeter 1960 Pontiacs by the end of the week and will begin shipping pre-orders containing these kits Friday April 2. Please read on for our brief review of the Hillbillies Truck and the 1980 Monte Carlo. Please visit the the AMT Gallery for complete ordering information on both of these new kits. ![]() Based on an early 1920's Oldsmobile, the Beverly Hillbillies Truck is an American icon. The new AMT kit, reissued from the old MPC kit, is molded in light grey and features two building options including the traditional truck you see on the box from the TV show, as well as a variation they call 'Granny's Hot Rod version with custom intakes and headers. The stock version features Granny's bench for seating; the hot rod version has a cool custom 4 seat arrangement. The hot rod version was featured in at least one TV episode, so it is not a phantom car. This reissue does not include all the clutter junk that the first one had. It does, however, have the barrels on the front fenders and the tailgate lantern. The kit looks like it will be a blast to build and you customizers will have a field day with it! Last issued in 1980, the reissued MPC 1980 Monte Carlo with Fantasy Chopper is a limited production item. This kit was the 2003 Richta Show Spotlight Exclusive, and all Distributors were limited in the quantity they could order. We have a good supply today, but expect it to dwindle quickly. The model is molded in grey and offers two wheel options: stock and custom wires. While the picture above shows the model with a vinyl top, this was added by the modeler. The hardtop is smooth and is not engraved with the Landau top. Of course, you can add a vinyl top, and we have the vinyl top kits from the Model Car Garage available on our Exterior Details link. The Monte Carlo kit comes with a 1/25 scale fantasy chopper and trailer with trailer hitch. This rare kit is a must have for any serious builder or collector. Thanks for stopping by. Please read on for more recent Model Car News. March 17, 2004: Back to Basics and Back to Fords: Folks, we received our first allotment of the new 1/8 scale Big Deuces from Revell, and from the packaging, to the engraving, to the details, this may be Revell's finest effort to date! The folks in Morton Grove thought of everything in this state of the art model kit. Three building options are offered including the traditional Big Deuce, 1932 Highboy and a Rat Rod. Revell gives us two complete engines to choose from including a 1948 Ford Flathead and an Early OHV V-8. You will love the three sets of wheels including, American Racing Lemans Mags for the Big Deuce, Spun Aluminum wheel discs for the Rat Rod, and 1940 Ford Deluxe Hubcaps for the Highboy. The kit also includes engine wiring and real fabric seat covers for the Rat Rod version. You may, of course, build the kit with or without fenders. The options are limitless. While most of you will want to paint your model, the body is molded in a Ford yellow and the interior and up-top are molded in an off white. The point is, you could easily build this model without paint if you wanted to. Here's a rear view of the Rat Rod Version: ![]() While the 1/8 Ford is sure to please the big scale modelers, Revell also released the 1923 Ford 'T' Show and Go Roadster Green Hornet in 1/25 scale. A builder's favorite for nearly 40 years, the Green Hornet features a removable top, body and fenders and converts to a rail hot rod or 'Rail Job' as Revell called it in the 60's. Powered by a Blown V-8, the Hornet has tuned exhausts, a sling seat, Dual quad carbs and the other chassis and interior details that make this a modeler's pick. For more pics and ordering information please visit the Revell Gallery. We will begin shipping both of these kits in the next week and suggest you order now as we have already pre-sold about half of our initial allotment of Big Deuces. More are coming, so we expect to have plenty to go around. While this is not a limited production edition, Revell has a habit of droping things suddenly. With all the complexities of manufacturing, coordinating and staging a kit like this, and with the cost of subsequent production runs, those who snooze are likely to loose. As always we will maintain availibility as long as Revell has them. To our friends outside of the United States, please note there are certain shipping restrictions due to the size of the model, and some shipping options may not be available to all Countries. We will be happy to discuss shipping options to your Country with you by email. In the US and Canada, size is not a problem and actual shipping costs UPS or USPS will apply. ![]() Thanks for stopping by, please read on for recent and past 'Model Car News'. ![]() March 4, 2004: 1960 Pontiac Bonnevilles and 1/8 scale '32 Ford Highboy Hi Folks, the Trumpeter Pontiacs have arrived in our warehouse and will be ready for shipment next week. The two new kits include a 1960 Bonneville Convertible and Hardtop. These highly detailed elegant 1/25 scale plastic models with over 200 parts feature opening hoods and trunks, working steering, metal transfer emblems and more. Please visit the all new 'Other Manufacturer's Gallery' for more pics and ordering information. Revell has finally given us a street date on the much anticipated 1932 Ford Highboy Street Rod in Big 1/8 scale. We will begin shipping the 1/8 Fords on March 24, 2004 in compliance with Revell's street date. Pre-orders are recommended and ordering information is available now at our Coming Soon:Future Releases link. Thanks for stopping by. Please note that we will be in Birmingham, Alabama this weekend with the Magic City Car Modelers as a Sponsor of their Birmingham Classic 2004 Model Car Show and Swap Meet on March 6th. Orders placed this weekend will be confirmed by Monday March 8th. If you attend the event, be sure to stop by and say hello! February 22, 2004: 1966 Mercury Park Lane, 1965 Buick Riviera, For those of us who lived for AMT annual kits in the 1960's, the reissued 1966 Mercury Hardtop is sure to bring back some memories. Last issued in 1977, this Park Lane reissue contains some of those nostalgic touches from the early years that we have missed for so long. This one is a true 2 in 1 kit with most of the customizing parts from the original issue including custom front and rear ends, the custom rear window overlay, and several options on the custom hood. The front end offers the slick custom (no headlight) chrome grill with roll pan, and the rear offers optional custom fender caps instead of tail lights, as well as the deck cap. Similarly, the custom interior option offers a bunch of fun with the retro optional "wrist-twist" steering wheel, custom bucket seats, custom gear shift and tachometer. In fact, we really have three building options as the custom can vary into a street machine quite easily as the kit includes two full sets of tires, one set for stock and custom versions, and one street-set with one-piece slicks to convert to street machine. The only slight disappointment might be the absence of the Crager wheels which were in the original 1966 version but were also absent from the 1977 issue. This current kit includes the stock wheels and the custom K-H 20-spoke cast wheels. To truly 'street' this bad boy, some mags will have to be borrowed from the parts box or possibly from the 1965 Riviera described below. Finally, this big hunk of Ford Motor Company iron is powered by the 427 cu. in. 'Super Marauder' V-8, and consistent with 1960's building technology, the chassis uses the metal axle implementation. Whether you want showroom stock, wild custom or something in between the new AMT '66 Mercury is a must! ![]() The new 1965 Riviera contains more surprises than the 1966 Park Lane. This Riv. comes with three sets of chrome wheels: stock, custom wires, and sloted mags. (hmmm, see the Park Lane paragraph above) What is really surprising is that this current reissue includes both custom versions, which were not seen in the 1980's reissues of the 1965 Riviera. In fact, some of the reviews I've seen indicate that one custom version in this kit looks like a complete George Barris 'Villa Riviera'. Like the Park Lane, this one has two sets of tires and one set has slicks. Also similar to the Park Lane, you have several interior options including another one of those funky 60's custom steering wheels. Unlike the Park Lane, the Riviera has two distinct engine options, one is bone stock and the other is racing/custom. The new AMT '65 Riviera is another must have kit! We have both of these vintage reissues in the warehouse ready to ship. Please visit the the AMT Gallery ![]() Revell is busy too! We have the following kits in the warehouse ready for shipment on March 4th which is Revell's authorized release date. 2003 Chance 2 Racing Monte Carlo (Dale, Jr), 2003 Home Depot Monte Carlo (T. Stewart), 2003 Goodwrench Monte Carlo (K. Harvick), Scuz Fink Monster by Ed Roth, 1969 Yenko Camaro. UPDATE: Beverly Hillbillies, 1969 Galaxie, Green Hornet Delayed (Now April, 2004) Please note the Beverly Hillbillies Truck, 1969 Ford Galaxie and the 1923 T 'Green Hornet' have been delayed. Pre-orders containing these items will be held for early April shipment. February 5, 2004: Beverly Hillbillies, 1969 Ford Galaxie XL, 1966 Mercury Park Lane, 1965 Buick Riviera, 1923 'T' Green Hornet, Scuz Fink by Ed Roth, Chance 2 Racing Monte Carlo - Little e, Revell Yenko Camaro UPDATE: Beverly Hillbillies, 1969 Galaxie, Green Hornet Delayed (Now April, 2004) ![]() All of the kits listed above are available for pre-order now. Also Revell released the Chevy SSR this week. The SSR combines cutting edge technology with retro design queues. Featuring a highly detailed Vortec 5300 V-8 and an optional hardtop and tonneau cover, I'm sure we will see some wild versions of the SSR on the contest tables this year.Ordering info available now in the the Revell Gallery.

You will be amazed before this year is through. If you have not done so already, it is imperative that you sign up for our email Broadcasts. On this page, we will post pictures and planned release dates of future products. On some of the items, we will accept pre-orders and these items will have the designation: 'Pre-Orders Welcome'. Be sure to specify your shipping preferences as described on the bottom of our on-line order form. Let us know by email if you believe this will be a valuable addition to the web site. We are starting the page off with a bang. Possibly the hottest kits of 2004 will be the private production run of the Ratpacker Altered Wheelbase Chevy II and the Limited Production MPC Jawbreaker Dragster. Pre-orders are welcome on these now. We suggest you order these seperately from in stock items as we cannot guarantee items which are in stock today will be in stock when the new kits arrive. January 1, 2004: ![]() This Stars & Stripes Corvette® was born to compete in Endurance Races and the Twelve Hours of Sebring was one of the most exciting. Your Revell kit represents the car that took part in the 1971 race and was piloted by Dick Smothers and John Greenwood. The team was a winning combination of great driving skills matched to a great car. In the end, they won their class and finished in 7th place overall. Features: Removable hardtop and unique headlight covers, accurate and patriotic endurance racer decals. Check out this bad boy and the new updated Nascar Monte Carlos in the the Revell Gallery. We have these kits in our warehouse now with shipping commencing on January 7th to honor Revell's street date. December 20, 2003: ![]() AMT has finally released the 1/25 scale kit of the 1956 Ford Thunderbird. Due in June of 2003, many Thunderbird and American Graffiti enthusiasts have been waiting for this all new kit. Remarkably, this is the first 1/25 scale 1956 Bird ever done as a plastic kit. Monogram produced it in 1/24 scale and Revell produced a diecast kit in 1/25 scale, but this is the first plastic 1/25 scale. The only thing close, believe it or not, was a 1955 which AMT released in 1955 as a crude promo type kit in 1/25 scale. Ordering Information for the new 1956 Thunderbird is available now in the AMT Gallery. Revell has notifed us that the 2003 Nascar Monte Carlos are shipping now with a street date of Jan. 7, 2003. The first two will be the Lowes # 48 and the Dupont # 24. We will have ordering information on the web site prior to the street date in about a week. Revell is also releasing the 1976 'Stars and Stripes' Corvette. We will have pictures and ordering information as soon as the kits arrive next week. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Christmas! December 14, 2003: Our thanks go out to our friend Leslie in Roswell, GA for sending us the picture above which we call 'Cadillac Christmas'. Leslie is working with us this year donating several hundred models to the Eagle Ranch for troubled youth in North Georgia. Our thanks also go out to all of you who have made 2003 another banner year for Model Roundup. As we enter our 10th year in business, we know that it is you the individual modeler and collector who makes our world go round. As many of you have noticed, not many kits were released in December, so we have been busy adding out of production kits and images to the online catalog. Based on the inquiries we receive, some of you may not realize that all the items we carry including rare out of production kits are accessible by clicking on catalog from any page. You then may go to: Models: Current and Out of Production or to Paint, Parts, Accessories and Decals. If you have not checked out these parts of the web site, we encourage you to visit, as many images of vintage kits are incorporated in these pages. We are pleased to report that despite heavy Holiday ordering, we are still shipping all internet orders in the USA within 24 hours, so you still have time for Christmas orders. Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for many new kit annoucements in January. We start with the 2004 Corvette Z06 Commemorative Edition. Powered by a detailed LS6 Engine on a finely detailed chassis, this all new kit is sure to be a favorite. Next, we have Elliot Sadler's 2003 M & M's Taurus, and last, but not least, a reissue of the popular Darrell Waltrip Combo featuring his 1982 Mountain Dew Regal and his very quick 1985 Pepsi Challenger Monte Carlo. All of us who have watched the sport for the last 25 years will never forget DW in Winner's Circle after Winner's Circle in his hot # 11 GM 'rides'. Check these three new offerings out now in the the Revell Gallery. Make sure you are signed up for our monthly email broadcasts, so you do not miss out. All we need is your email address and Country and your categories of interest. Thanks for stopping by!. ![]() November 20, 2003: 1955 Chevy Cameo Pickup, Great Dane Trailer Just a quick update this week to let you know that we have the 1955 Chevy Cameo Pickup and the Great Dane 40 foot Dry Goods Trailer in our warehouse ready to ship now. The Great Dane Trailer is a staple for the Big Rig Modeler and this particular trailer has been hard to find. Last issued in 1980 as a plain Dry Goods Van, and again in 1981 as the trailer in the Smokey and the Bandit Combo kit, the market has been dry for over two decades on this trailer. Grab what you need now while they are cheap and available. Ordering details are in the the AMT Gallery. Thanks for stopping by! ![]() November 15, 2003: 1978 Monaco 4 door, Vanishing Point Challenger, Batskiboat Police car builders have known about the 'Joker Goon' Car for years. While it looks like a goofy purple and green contraption, the truth is, it is one of the best 4 door sedan kits of all time. Whether you need a time appropriate cop car for your diorama or a funky big American Sedan, the Goon Car is hard to beat. We feature the box art from the first issue because, in our opinion, the car of more interest is the Police Cruiser chasing the Goon car which comes from the same model kit. If you want to customize your car with specific police agencies, be sure to check out our 1/25 scale Police decals in the aftermarket section of the catalog. AMT also released the Vanishing Point Challenger and the Batskiboat this week. As most of us expected, the Vanishing Point Challenger from AMT is a repackaging of their 1970 Dodge Challenger kit which can be built as a Convertible or Hardtop so we can make it work. Chrysler loaned five Alpine White 1970 Challengers to Cupid Productions for the movie. Four were 4 speeds with the 440 engine equipped with four barrel carbs and 1 was an automatic with the 383. The automatic was never used except possibly in the straight scenes. The kit features the 440 motor with a six-pack which is almost correct except for the carbs. If you have never seen the movie, make the effort. You will witness some of the finest pre-computer-generated chase scenes ever filmed. Many find the chase sequences in Vanishing Point comparable to the chase scenes in Bullit. The Batskiboat is the first reissue from the first Batman movie. This particular kit is a skill level two glue kit. That's about it for now on new kits. You may check these out and obtain ordering information in the the AMT Gallery. Finally, we like to remind you this time of year that your friends, relatives, and work mates can always give you what you want, models from Model Roundup. How 'bout instead of another ugly neck tie, you send them to shop for you at Model Roundup. We are happy to assist your folks with the perfect gift for you. They can order from the web site and have the models sent to them or to you, and we will be happy to enclose personalized greetings. Gift Certificates are also available with information at our Great Gift Ideas link. Thanks for stopping by! October 31, 2003: 1962 Bel Air 409 Just a quick update this week to let you know that we have the 1962 Chevy Bel Air 409 in stock. This is the second issue of a kit that debuted in 1995. Featuring more modern building enhancements with a detailed chassis and a detailed Chevy 409 motor 'to die for', modelers voted this the best new kit of the year in 1995. In fact, this was the kit that set new standards in the industry for quality. Revell quickly followed with their own stable of Chevys in the 'larger box' series which included the 1955 Bel Air Convertible, 1956 Nomad, 1959 Impala, 1960 Impala and 1965 Impala. We still have most of the Revell out of production kits in stock in the model catalog. We have the '62's ready to ship now. Don't miss this GM classic! Pictures and ordering information are available in the the AMT Gallery ![]() October 27, 2003: 1940 Ford Standard Coupe & More! Hi folks, here's some more good news for all of you vintage Ford Lovers. The Revell 1940 Ford Coupe is finally here! Enthusiasts have been waiting for 18 months for this newly tooled 1940 Ford Standard Coupe, and it's a beauty! Bob Shelton, a lucky recipient of a test shot as well as a 1940 Ford owner and expert, indicates this is the finest 1940 Ford Sedan ever done as a model kit in scaling accuracy. Bob also gives us a building tip and advises us to install the exhaust unglued before the engine. Once the engine is mounted, the exhaust can be glued into final position. Please make note of Bob's tip as this will save you time and effort in the building process and is not clear in the instructions. We have the '40 Ford kits in the warehouse now and begin shipping on Wednesday October 29th, Revell's official Street Date. Also available for shipment this Wednesday is the new 1993 Cougar XR-7 (3 in 1), the 2003 Thunderbird Snap kit, and the latest Monogram Slot car, the # 54 Shelby Daytona from Nurburgring 1965. Check out pictures and find ordering information now in the the Revell Gallery. From AMT this week we have the 1969 Yenko Camaro, another hot car from the Fast & Furious Movie. Ordering information is in the the AMT Gallery. As News breaks in the plastic model world, we post it here first. Many of you have heard about a very limited edition Ratpacker Altered Wheel Base Nova coming out next year. We are one of four dealers participating and will have pre-ordering information soon. Please don't panic; we will have plenty to go around as we are taking 20 percent of the production run or 1000 kits. Your best bet to stay in the loop is to subscribe to our monthly email briefing list. All we need is an email address and Country and you will remain informed on new developments in the hobby. We hate spam and would never distribute your email address for any reason to anyone period. Be sure to sign up now using this link if you have your own email address. Thanks for stopping by! October 18, 2003: New Buyer's Choice, Kurt Bush Nascar, '69 Mach I Hi folks, we just received 6 hot new kits from AMT. The Fall 2003 Buyers Choice Limited Production kits are in our warehouse now and ready for shipment. These include the 1967 Ford Mustang 2 +2 Pro Street Flip Nose Gasser, the 1967 Dodge Charger Street Machine (2 in 1), and the Jolly Rodger Show Car. The Flip nose Mustang is from famous MPC tooling, and is interesting in that the front end is more of a 1966 Mustang while the tail is a 1967. Older issues of this kit were easily bringing $50.00 in the collector market. Similarly, the 1967 Charger Street Machine is from the fantastic vintage MPC tooling. AMT is calling it a 2 in 1. The engine may be built stock with a stock hood or as a fully blown hemi with the blower drive protruding through a hole in the hood. Only one set of wheels are provided which are not stock, and the tire configuration includes two stock looking front tires with wider Pro street looking rear tires. This is an MPC 'bad boy' in the best sense and the big advantage over the last vintage issue of the kit is that it is molded in neutral grey while the last MPC kits were molded in black. Finally, the Jolly Rodger Show car is in the house. Sporting modifications of the Beverly Hillbillies tooling, the Jolly Rodger features an in scale skelaton as well as sails to take it on the high seas. Please note these kits are 'hobby only' kits which means they will not be available at the mass merchandizers such as Walmart. They are also limited in production and manufactured one time to order. Check out the pictures in the the AMT Gallery, and stock up now. ![]() Mustang Fans are going to be in great shape with the Gasser mentioned above and the 1969 Mach I which has also just arrived into stock.(pictures in the the AMT Gallery.) Combine these with the 1971 and 1973 Mustangs coming next year and we have a virtual 'Ponyfest'. Nascar Builders may have noticed that AMT is back in the Nascar Kit business. We have stocked limited quantites of the brand new Kurt Bush Rubbermaid Taurus, and the Matt Kenseth Dewalt Taurus. Depending on how well they do, we will add the other kits soon. Truthfully, Revell has been so dominant in the Nascar kits, we are reluctant to carry duplicate lines. If any of you have built both Revell kits and the new AMT kits, we would love to hear your feedback. Please email us on this issue, our email address is on the 'Contact Us' page. September 27, 2003: Tribute Monte Carlo & UFO Revell just released the special paint schemed Tribute Concert Monte Carlo. Dale, Jr. ran this car in the Busch race in Talledega in April, 2003 to honor his music loving dad and support the Tribute Fund Raiser Concert in Daytona. Poetically, Dale, Jr. won the race! Also, from Revell this week, we have the UFO in 1/72 scale. Borrowed from the very old/classic TV series the 'Invaders' in which aliens were in search of a new planet, this kit has a detailed alien filled interior and the landing gear is posable up or down. (we have a pic of the interior in the gallery) We sold out of the UFOs quickly the last time they were released in about 1994, so don't get caught short on the this classic. Finally, Revell has reissued the 1994 Impala SS as a (2 'n 1) Lowrider or Stock; similarly RMX released the 1995 Mitsubishi diecast kit in an all new orange Fast & Furious color scheme. Check these all out now in the the Revell Gallery. Thanks for stopping by! September 21, 2003: Batmobile First Movie AMT has released the Batmobile from the first Batman movie and we have them in our warehouse ready for shipment now. This is a skill level 2 plastic glue kit in 1/25 scale. This will go nicely with the Batmissile and Batwing which we recently started shipping. Check these all out now in the the AMT Gallery. September 13, 2003: Previews of 2004 & 'plastic' F & F Charger Hi folks, we have a glimpse of some of the new kits planned for 2004 and thought we would give you a quick preview. AMT has announced three great kits for January including the Beverly Hillbillies Truck, the 1965 Buick Riviera, and the 1966 Mercury Parklane Hardtop. Later in the year, they plan to release the 1969 Corvair Hardtop, 1969 Ford Galaxie Hardtop, and both the 1971 and 1973 Mustangs. The lineup is rounded out by a 1975 Duster and GMC Astro 95 Cabover Big Rig. For their January Buyer's Choice program, they plan the to reiisue in limited quantities: The MPC Jawbreaker Dragster, the MPC Howmet TX Mark II Can AM Racer and the 1982 MPC Jeep CJ-5 'Swamp Rat'. AMT also announced a limited 1980 Monte Carlo with a Chopper last issued as Wheeler Dealer and Class Action for those of you who follow the history. Revell promises to concentrate on actually producing what they have already announced in 2003, but they will be updating the Nascar Monte Carlo tooling and Dodge tooling with kits featuring, Dale Jr., Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Sterling Marlin. As we hear more, we will pass it on here in Model Car News. As most of you know, we focus more on items that are actually produced and released as manufacturer's plans always seem to change. The best way to stay up to date on new releases is to sign up for our email briefing mailing list. If you have not signed up yet, be sure to the click the link provided here, it only takes a second as all we need is your email address, areas of interest and Country. Just make sure you are on our email briefing list and you will be notified when each of these exciting new kits actually comes out. We do have one new kit to announce this week which is the 1970 Charger in plastic from the Fast & Furious Movie. You may check this out now with the other Fast & Furious kits in the AMT Gallery. Please scroll down for the Charger as we are keeping the F & F kits together in the Gallery. Thanks for stopping by! September 6, 2003: A New Golden Era! Mack R-model, Autocar, GMC As the Fall of 2003 approaches, and the trees begin to turn to all shades of red and gold, I cannot help but feel that we are entering another golden era of plastic modeling. When in the last 20 years have we had such a variety of current production kits to choose from? We are encouraged by the limited reissues of such desirable subjects as the Mack R-685ST and the Autocar Dump Trucks. These production runs were privately commissioned and only 2500 of each truck were manufactured. I understand many dealers are already sold out and the models have only been out for 1 week. We have reasonable quantities in stock now, but suggest those of you who know what these are, and how hard they will be to find in a year, take appropriate action now. More pictures and ordering information are available now in the the AMT Gallery. Not quite so limited, but equally as golden is the reissue of MPC's 1984 GMC Shortbed Pickup. Many of you remember other renditions of this tooling in the "Fall Guy" Pickup and later the "Hardcastle and McCormick" Pickup. The drawbacks on the kit are the oversized custom wheels and tires and the lack of a stock 2-wheel drive version. A stock 4WD drive version can be easily achieved by selecting some smaller wheel backs and tires from another kit. This commom modeling practice is called "kit bashing". Many modelers will also be "kit bashing" to produce a 2-wheel drive set up and a longbed version. I expect to see some of these modified versions on the contest tables in the next few months. Terry Jessee of Scale Auto Enthusiast Magazine reviewed the kit and gave it high marks on the body engraving (door panels are kind of vague in that 80's MPC way) and interior detail. The highlight may be the finely detailed engine featuring nice touches like a seperate fuel pump. Jessee concludes, "I really like this kit and I'm glad to see it back!" Check this out with the Batwing in the AMT Gallery. Thanks for stopping by! August 23, 2003: UPS Taurus # 88 Just a quick note to let you know the UPS Taurus # 88 1/24 glue kit arrived today. Pictures and ordering information available now in the Revell Gallery. Happy Labor Weekend to our friends in the USA! August 23, 2003: Beebe & Mulligan, Lincoln Futura August is a busy month for new releases and Revell has released 2 all new kits this week along with two very popular reissues. The large scale drag fans will be happy to see the Beebe and Mulligan Front Engine Rail Dragster in 1/16 scale. As fans know, the actual car dominated drag racing in the late '60's and held the NHRA speed record until July of 1970. In our Revell Gallery you can see a picture of the actual kit built. The other all new kit from Revell this week was the Ferrari Enzo. Only 349 of the actual cars have been built and they are all spoken for according to our contacts at Ferrari. I guess we all have to settle for the model this time. Accompaning the new kits, are two popular reissues including the Lincoln Futura Show Car (basis for the 1960's TV Batmobile) and the 1959 Chevy Hardtop served up this time as a (2 in 1) with lowrider or factory stock building options. Ordering details and pictures of the boxes are available now in the Revell Gallery. From AMT, we have the all new 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse in a 1/25 scale plastic kit. Of course, the kit has to celebrate the 'Fast & Furious' Movie. AMT has also reissued the Robo 1 Police Car from the movie Robocop. The kit did not do well the first time around, and it may fare no better this time. However, if you have your heart set on a modified late '80's Ford Taurus Police Car,then this may be the kit for you. Check these two kits out on the first page of the AMT Gallery. All of the kits above are available now. Thanks for stopping by!

July 4, 2003: Switchers 25 TAs many of you know, RC2 (formerly Racing Champions) owns the AMT brand and model tooling as well as the old MPC brand and model tooling. We should all be excited that RC2 has pledged to dig deep into the MPC tools. We are seeing the first fruits of their efforts this week with the reissue of the 'Switchers' 1925 Model T kit. The 'Switchers' kits were modelers favorites in the 1970's because each kit came with so many parts and building options. In the case of the 'Switchers' Series, modelers were encouraged to build them up and SWITCH them to something else. The pictures you see, do not do justice to the beautiful chrome and parts in the actual kit. For example, the big side exhaust pipes which you see as orange in the picture are actually in the preferable chrome in the kit. The non-chrome parts are molded in neutral grey, so we can pick our colors without having to worry about painting over colored plastic. This kit is very limited in production and was only offered to RC2-AMT Distributors at the New York Toy Fair. They will not last long and will not be in normal retail distribution, so get them while you can. Ordering details and a picture of the box top are available now in the the AMT Gallery ![]() Revell has been busy as well giving us the exciting Off-Road Adventure set featuring a late '70's early '80's Datsun Pickup, a trailer, two off-road bikes featured in selected MPC kits in the 70s and an assortment of camping gear. This is a detailed plastic glue kit in 1/25 scale, so be sure not to miss it in the Revell Gallery. Revell also reissued the always-popular Hemi Hydro Drag Boat. Finally, Polar Lights treats us to the whimsical Homer Simpson Dream Rod.Who can resist this fun snap kit with over 50 pieces? See pics of this fun kit now for the the Polar Lights Gallery. April 27, 2003: Revell '54 Chevy Panel, AMT '66 Fairlane GT/AA couple of old friends are back this week with Revell's reissue of the always classic 1954 Chevy Panel Street Rod and the sleek AMT 1966 Fairlane GT/A. The '54 Panel speaks for itself and features a Chevy 409 pwer plant, Michelin tires on custom alloys, opening hood and special California Graphics. Revell also released the first of their much anticipated 1/32 Slot Cars. These guys are track ready with detailed interiors, painted driver figures, sliding magnets, and crisp multi-tampo graphics. Each car is packed in a stackable acrylic display case. This second release is the 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe # 13 Daytona. It's aerodynamic body was designed by Pete Brock. The 1/32 model is gorgeous and would make a great shelf piece even if you are not into slot car racing. Suggested retail is $44.90, but you can snag them now at Model Roundup's introductory discounted price of $32.90. Visit the Revell Gallery for pictures and ordering information on all the new Revell Monogram models. While you are there, don't miss the Fast & Furious black Dodge Charger which has just been released to compliment the Fast & Furious Eclipse and Civic. All the F & F cars are together in the Revell Gallery.
The mid-sixties were a heydey for muscle cars and Ford Motor Company was doing very well in the Pony-car leagues
with the Mustang. The 1964 Fairlane gained some fame at the drag strip with the Thunderbolt, but rule changes in
NHRA put the T'bolt out of business in 1965. Ford's 1965 Fairlane with it's unflattering box on box styling was one of the more
forgettable designs in automotive history...a car only grandpa could love. Pontiac and Chrysler were eating Ford
alive in the mid-size category with the GTO's and the big engine Dodge's. The boys in Dearborn were not to be left
out, however, and in 1966, a whole new line of Fairlanes were introduced that had crisp light styling and smooth,
sleek rooflines on the two-door hardtops. The GT-GT/A performance models were notable in the lineup. You could get
the straight manual GT version or the GT/A (automatic). Ford's new C6 was no ordinary automatic as it could be
shifted manually or left to shift for itself. (A reemerging trend in performance cars today) AMT gives the builder
both transmission options, so you can build your 1966 Fairlane to your specs. Perhaps, Ford had a better idea in
1966 as their campaign slogans claimed. Sales of the 1966 Fairlanes were up 41.7 % over 1965 and the GT/A model
alone sold 37,343 cars. Get ordering information now in the AMT Gallery April 13, 2003: AMT/MPC Dodge Charger 500 and 1970 Impala Hi folks. Those of you who subscribe to our Roundup Club email Broadcasts have already been given a brief history lesson on the 1969 Dodge Charger 500. Here, we will provide a couple of notes on the kit as we inspected it. The kit is molded in grey neutral, with 2 sets of wheels and two primary building options for the 426 Hemi. You may build the 'stock' version with the single holley 750 CFM carburator, and stock air cleaner or the drag version with the dual 750 Holley double pumper Carbs on a GMC 6-71 Blower Body topped with dual Velocity Stacks. The wheels are stock or custom and the kit includes nice one-piece rear slicks for the drag-racing version. The chassis is multi piece, but still includes a hidden metal axle for the rear tires. Note that if you want to build the drag version, the back seat is unfortunately molded in, and no real single racing seat is included. You will have to go to the parts box, or the aftermarket to finish a true racing interior. While AMT would classify one building version as a drag version, from the box, all you can really get is a great Pro-street. We do salute their efforts and the improvements we have seen in their recent reissues. This kit is part of the Limited Buyers Choice Program, and we will not be able to reorder, so don't miss them while we have them at this reasonable price. Older versions of the same kit by MPC were selling for $50.00 just a few short years ago.
Complimenting the 1969 Charger is one of our favorites the classic 1970 Impala. Some of you may remember a most
unique feature of the '60's and early 70's Impalas. That feature was all the options available. I remember when my family
ordered a new 1968 Impala. The option list was like a restaurant menu with a couple of hundred choices. In fact, it was possible in those years to
get an Impala that was unlike any other just by checking the right box on the order sheet. AMT has left the builder
with plenty of options as well. We can safely classify this as a (3 'n 1) stock, custom, or lowrider. The builder
has three sets of wheels to chose from including stock, American Mags, and Crager mags. The big
Chevy V-8 also has three versions. They are predictably stock, custom with the great 8 chrome velocity stacks, and lowrider
with tri-carbs. A fun car to customize since 1970, the car remains a favorite of lowrider customizers today.

'Dale finally won the Daytona 500!' were the words on the lips of every NASCAR Fan accross the country in 1998 when Dale clinched the victory in the race that had eluded him for so long-the Daytona 500. Ironically, no one had won more races at Daytona up to that point than Dale. This commemorative kit includes accurate decals to depict the way the number 3 Monte Carlo looked on the afternoon when Dale got the one he tried to get for twenty long years-The Great American Race. This 1/24 scale glue kit with accurate decals features: Accurate Monte Carlo bodywork, Detailed 358 c.i. racing engine and Nascar approved roll cage, Authentic Goodwrenc Service Plus decals, Molded in white, and clear with black vinyl racing tires. Also released by Revell this week were the 2002 PT Cruiser Convertible, Mustang Cobra Combo kit featuring 3 classic Mustang Cobras, and the Porshe GT-1 EVO. Be sure to visit the Revell Gallery for pictures and ordering information on all these great new kits. March 8, 2003: AMT 1970 Super Bee & More
The new AMT 1970 Dodge Superbee Pro-Street kit replicates a '90's era Pro-Street
wonder right down to the Super-Flow air cleaner and Mickey Thompson monster rear
tires. Sporting a modern Pro-Street tubed chassis, huge tires can be fitted under stock
sheet metal on special rear suspension parts to harness all the torque coming from the
specially modified 426 Hemi up front. As an extra, there is a 1/25 replica of Dodge's
secret engine that was going to compete in the NASCAR wars if Ford was going to be
allowed to run their overhead cam 427. This would be a remarkable double overhead cam
Hemi that would have surely given Ford and GM fits at the racetrack. Unfortunately,
NASCAR did not allow Ford to run their 'cammer' and Chrysler Corp. consequently
killed their DOHC Hemi with only one or two prototypes actually made. This DOHC
prototype is included for modelers who can only wonder 'what if' a person could have
actually bought a double overhead can Hemi Super Bee back in 1970. This kit is well
engraved and executed and is a 'must have' model. The '70 Bee stands on it's own
merits as a Mopar Muscle Classic, and as most of us know the Pro-Street chassis setup in
this kit is one of the best ever for all those other Pro-street projects you have been waiting
to build. We have these ready to ship NOW!Also released by AMT this week were the 1978 Dodge li'l Red Express Truck, 1965 Pontiac 2 + 2, Ford Louisville Shorthauler, and 1996 Chevy Tahoe. For pictures and ordering information, please go to the the AMT Gallery now. Stay tuned this weekend as we will announce Revell's new round of kits including Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Nilla Wafers Monte Carlo, Tony Nancy Jr. Double Dragster, Honda Civic Hatchback and more. We will have pictures and ordering information for the Revell stuff up by Sunday March 9th. You can take a peek now in Revell Gallery. Thanks for stopping by! Feb. 23, 2003: AMT 1966 Fairlane 427, Revell '79 Camaro 3 'n 1 Headlined by AMT's awesome 1966 Ford Fairlane 427, three strong new kits are now in our warehouse ready for shipping. First issued in 1994, AMT has released the second issue of this 'modern-tooled' 1966 Fairlane 427. By modern tooling, we mean this kit has a detailed multipiece chassis, with seperate exhaust and axle components unlike the annual kits of the 1960's with all the detail molded into the chassis and metal axles. This kit is more like the real car in scale. Powered by a huge Ford 427, this kit has always represented understated muscle at its best. The kit also features a more accurate interior implementation with a seperate back seat, as opposed to the old pre-molded interior tubs common in the 1960's. A detailer can go wild with this one. If you go now to the AMT Gallery, you can click on the thumbnail and see this kit's engine wired & plumbed with aftermarket detail parts. This leads to the next subject. Have you checked out our list of detailing parts lately? If you have not, you will be amazed, click on Catalog from any page and then scroll down to 'Paints, Parts, Accessories, and Decals'. 'It'll put butterflies in your stomach, a lump in your throat and a smile on your face'. So claimed the Camaro Ad copy from 1979, and judging by the car's poularity and sales, a lot of Camaro owners were smiling in 1979. Revell has done a great job with this slightly modified enhancement of their great 1978 Camaro kit. This one is a true (3 'n 1) with all you need for your choice of stock, street, or 'Muscle Bound' drag versions. Decals abound for each version and the drag racer features big Revell real vinyl one-piece slicks, optional supercharger and air scoop. Visit the Revell Gallery and you can click on the thumbnail of the street version and see an actual built stock version For you classic car fans out there, you can enjoy the fine 1934 Dusenberg Dual Cowl SJ Torpedo Phaeton. You will be amazed by the details in this 155 piece kit. Get ordering details and pricing now in the Revell Gallery Thanks for stopping by! Feb. 6, 2003: 8 new kits from Revell & AMT Hi Folks: our headliner this week is Revell's much anticipated 1931 Ford Sedan (2 'n 1). With the 'Rat Rod' theme enjoying such popularity among skilled modelers, the Revell '31 Ford could not be more timely. Match this bad boy with another classic, Revell's wonderful '53 Corvette with optional 1954 engine setup, and you have a pair of winners. For the contemporary hotrodder, Revell continues it's line of 'Tuners' which are so popular with the new generation of modelers. You may feast this month on the sleek 1999 Honda Civic Si Coupe (2 'n 1) and the always classic BMW 320i. AMT is keeping up the pace of their fast and furious reissue program. This month, we are treated to the George Barris
Surf Woody and the Steve Tansy Vending Machine. Both of these kits have not been reissued for
over 30 years, and for many of us, bring back some great memories of the glory years of modeling. Keeping with the Showcar theme, we
also have the MPC Classic Barris Showcar, the 'Ricksha', in 1/20 scale.(Sorry Rickshas have sold out) Finally, AMT released the Lotus Indy Turbine Car. Check out

it is a true 3 in 1 with stock, custom, and drag options. Three sets of tires are provided as well as three wheel
sets and even the decals to make one of three cool versions. Collector prices had gotton to $50.00 on the previous
releases, so don't miss them now at Model Roundup's low price of $8.90 each. You really need to get three of these, so
you can build all three versions including the Stovebolt dragster with those classic big AMT slicks. Take a look at
all these hot reissues now in the AMT Gallery.
Dec. 19, 2002: Vampire Van & Livestock TrailerWow! Finally, we have ERTL digging into the old tooling! This week, AMT released the Vampire Van. Last issued by MPC in the early '70's, this hot rod is loosely based on the '33 Chevy Panel Truck. Pulling the ghoulish coffin trailer, this kit is reminiscent of the old Boot Hill Express. Originally issued by MPC as 'Barnabus Vampire Van', I believe it was from the TV show called 'Peyton Place'. If anyone can correct us on that please email. (Our thanks to Richard Riengold of Yarmouthport Massachusetts for clarification on the Vampire Van. It is from the late 60's early 70's TV series called 'Dark Shadows'. This controversial TV show was the Sopranos of the 'Leave it to Beaver era'. One of the lead characters was Barnabus Collins. That's why when MPC first issued it, it was called Barabus' Vampire Van. Also from the depths of vintage AMT/MPC tooling comes the Livestock Trailer. The Wilson Livestock Van was originally issued by AMT in 1973 as part # T-594. It was reissued once in 1986 as AMT 6684. Book value on the first two issues is in excess of $100.00. Better snap these third issues up while you can at Model Roundup's discounted price. For ordering information and pictures, please visit the AMT Gallery. We at Model Roundup wish you all a very joyous Holiday season and a prosperous New Year!

This particular kit by Johan is the promo kit version (no engine) and builds up into a wonderful shelf model and tribute to 1960's Mopar Engineering. The kit is molded in white and includes clear glass, bright chrome and red tailights. We find the engraving to be excellant and we should all be greatful to Okey for his emphasis on quality. In 1987, at the famous Winston "Select" race in Charlotte, the racing world
witnessed one of the most intense on-track Nascar Battles ever seen. After Bill
Elliot made heavy contact with Dale Earnhardts car, forcing him off the track,
Dale continued charging across the infield grass, back on to the pavement,
reclaimed his lead and went on to win the historic event. This is the "Pass in
the Grass" Monte Carlo! Get 'em while they last! We honor Revell Street Dates and will begin shipping orders containing this kit on Wednesday October 30th.
Oct. 19, 2002: Hi Folks, just a quick update this week to let you know that we have the classic AMT Peterbilt Wrecker in
1/25 scale and the always popular 1932 Ford Phaeton in stock now and ready to ship. Get complete ordering information now
in the the AMT Gallery. Many of you are inquiring about the Classic Metal Works unmarked White Police Interceptor CMW-20404. Classic Metal Works tells us that their next shipment was delayed by the dock problems on the US West Coast and they are hoping for their next shipment in November. We also are waiting for that shipment and are booking pre-orders against the future shipment. We suggest you put your pre-orders in now as the shortage is expected to continue through 2002. You will not be billed until we ship. Picture and ordering information available in the Police Model Section of our regular online catalog. Thanks for stopping by!
Oct. 12, 2002: Hi folks, AMT has reissued an old favorite this week in the Cat D8-H Bulldozer. While many of
us are auto oriented builders, a huge crowd of large equipment builders remain active in the hobby. This particular kit
was last issued in 1982 and book value runs about $100.00 on the last issue. Now you can snap them up at less than a
fourth of the cost. Look for a short production run on this one and scarcity again in 3 years.
This week AMT also released a new version of the classic 'Yankee Challenge' 1970 Dodge Challenger Street Machine. While
many of us expected a repop of AMT 6466, the stock version of the '70 Challenger, Yankee Challenge is strictly a
'Pro Street' Vehicle and cannot be built stock. The chassis is fairly traditional not tubed. The kit features two
different hoods with holes depending on your blower configuration. The wheels are custom, and AMT gives you two
traditional front tires and two slicks for the back. One nice feature which this kit carries over from the last AMT Challenger is that
you can build her as a Convertible or Hardtop. Finally, AMT reissued the 1964 Chevy Impala 2 door hardtop. A staple of
AMT's product line since the original 1964 annual kit which featured working headlights and tailights, it is
actually bigger news when this kit is not in AMT's current product line. Check these new kits out now in the the AMT Gallery.
Many of you have asked us about release dates on new products. Those of you who have been around the hobby for a while know that manufacturer delays are common. Similar to AMT's 1964 Chevy, the bigger News is when a kit is released on time. In particular, we do anticipate some delays due the West Coast dock problems. Our policy is to annouce kits when we have them ready to ship. However, there is a solution where you will not miss one signifcant new kit release. Take a minute and subscibe to our new email mailing list. All we need is your email address and we will notify you when new kits come out as they come out. You will not miss anything. Here's the handy link to sign up now: Finally, you may want to visit the 'Paints, Parts, Accessories and Decals' Section of our web site. Oct. 1, 2002: After a ten year drought of beer kits, Revell has boldly released Sterling Marlin's Coors Light Intrepid as a plastic model kit. Fearing that beer sponsorship on model car kits would lead to delinquincy among minors, AMT and Revell put the 'plug in the jug' in 1991 refusing to allow the great American Beer Manufacturers to plaster their well known insignias on plastic models. Apparently, prohibiton is over, and Revell has released three new plastic Nascar kits this week including the aforementioned Coors Light #40, the Home Depot # 20 and the Interstate Batteries # 18. Complimenting this weeks releases is the stock version of the original 1972 Datsun 240Z in 1/25 scale with that awesome straight six engine. Rounding off Revell's lineup is a reissue of the popular Quadzilla Ford Monster Truck. These kits are in our warehouse now with shipping to commence on October 2nd. We encourage you to get your orders in now as our quantites are somewhat limited. For pictures of all these kits and complete ordering info, please go to the Revell Gallery now. For a complete listing of all items we carry including out of production models, parts, accessories and decals, please visit our new Catalog Index page. To see pictures of selected kits we have in stock, please browse our manufacturer Galleries on the left side bar of every page. Thanks for stopping by, As new kits come out, we list them here first. ![]() Sept. 21, 2002: Quick weekend update: we have just received a few of the beautiful and elusive 1958 Cadillacs from ARII. These kits are a little more expensive but the quality and buildibility is on the level of a Tamiya kit. The kits have detailed engines and chassis with working springs. To view these beautiful kits now and get ordering information, please visit the ARII Gallery ![]() Sept. 19, 2002: Howdy! The big news this week is in the Specialty Cars category. Polar Lights has released their much anticipated 1959 Ghostbusters Cadillac. The advanced word on this kit was that it would be a 1/32 kit and sort of ho-hum. After our inspection here, we are very impressed. The kit is in 1/25 scale and the engraving and detail are beautiful! This baby has over 50 parts molded in white, clear, chrome, & smoked glass. The realistic vinyl tires and authentic decals complete the package. This kit will lend itself well to builders who are looking to modify the kit into Ambulances and Hearses. The smoked glass which covers the rear section is a great touch that even AMT missed in their classic 1/25 detailed version of this vehicle in 1989. For those of you demanding more detail in the engine and chassis compartment, we have a few of the original AMT 1/25 glue kits left which are reduced to a special price and may be viewed now on page 6 of the AMT Gallery. Keeping with the Specialty Car theme, AMT has reissued the 1/25 scale Moonscope designed by George Barris. For pictures and ordering information please go to the new AMT Gallery now. We are continuing work on updating and adding to the online catalog. As mentioned on September 1, we now have Preston's Car Parts (great pre-wired distributors and other goodies), Model Car Garage (best detailing parts and accessories in the hobby), and Chimneyville Hobbies (police decals, lightbars, & diorama items, online. More coming soon. To check out the new Parts and Accessories, please go to Model Roundup Accessories Shop. This link is also available by clicking on 'Catalog' from any page. Thanks for stopping by! Sept. 1, 2002:Hi Folks, the big news this week is that we have completely revamped the on-line catalog and now have all of our aftermarket parts and accessories on-line. We also have added hundreds of treasures in the model category. You can access both these new features now on our new catalog main page. ![]() Revell has released their most popular 1948 Ford Convertible and 1969 Baldwin Motion Camaro. They also have created new models of the Budweiser Top Fuel Dragster and the slick 1956 Ford Pickup with Big Daddy Roth Graphics. For pictures and ordering information please go to the new Revell Gallery now. From AMT, just released this week, we have the 1967 GTO and the 1929 Ford Model A Roadster from AMT. The '67 'Goat' is one of my absolute favorite cars of all time. AMT dug into the old MPC tooling for this, a trend which we all hope will continue. The '29 Ford is a classic as well. AMT has not issued this particular kit for about 12 years now and the collector prices were hovering in the $40.00 range. Snag yours now at the Model Roundup discounted price. You can get complete ordering information on these items at the AMT Gallery. From Polar Lights, we have 'Spindrift Space Ship' and 'Snake Scene'. These are both classic Aurora reissues from the '60's TV sensation 'Land of the Giants'. You can view these now in the Polar Lights Gallery. Finally, if you have not figured it out, we changed the Manufacturer's sections with all the pictures to Galleries. Doesn't that sound fancy? We have built more pages and plan to populate each section with many more models in the coming weeks. Thanks for stopping by for your up to the minute Model Car News. As new kits are released we post them here first! Please read on for more recent Model Car News! August 4, 2002:Hi Folks, we have three new kits from Revell this week. The first one, featured in the picture above, is about a year late, but better late the never. The very slick Ferrari 360 Modena Spider with all new Ferrari 400 hp V-6 engine and high tech chassis, is a breath of fresh air to the modeling world. As some of you know, Ferrari cancelled all replica model contracts a couple of years back and it's nice to see models of these classic Italian Sports cars back for those of us who cannot quite pony up for the real thing. Revell has also released the pre-assembled version of the Vanishing Point Challenger complete with a figure of Kowalski taking a break to drink a beer. He better get back on the road quick if he's gonna have time to crash that car into the Bulldozers at the end of the movie. Speaking of crashes, we have Mark Martins 2002 version of the Viagra Taurus in a 1/24 glue kit. Please see these all now and get ordering information at Revell 2002. July 24, 2002:Hi Gang. Ordering information and pictures are available now at AMT 2002. That's all for this week. July 22, 2002:Hi Folks. ![]() June 12, 2002: Hello, three really hot kits just came in this week. For you truck lovers, we have the famous AMT C-900 Tilt Cab, US Mail Truck and Trailer, as well as the Ford Louisville Snowplow. The US Mail Truck has not been produced since 1977, a clear quarter of a century ago. Collector prices on the original combo have been around $150.00. Now, we can all own one to collect and one to build at the reasonable reissue price. Note that production was very limited on both of the new AMT trucks to around 3000 pieces. Get 'em while you can! The Ford LNT-8000 Snowplow was originally issued in 1973 and was reissued once. Book value on the original hovers around $130.00. Be sure to go to AMT 2002 for pricing and ordering info. Speaking of breaking out the old tooling, AMT has given us back the wonderful 1966 Ford Galaxy 500 (4 in 1) kit. What makes it so wonderful? Try four discreet building options! June 4, 2002:Hi folks, we just got the 1967 Shelby Mustang GT-500 die cast kit from Revell. Like the Vanishing Point Challenger, this one is really sweet in 1/25 scale. Originally slated to come out as the 'Gone in 60 Seconds' Car, we assume licensing issues prevented the movie logo from appearing on the box. However, make no mistake, this is the same car. See this baby now at Revell 2002 We also have just received our May shipment ofthe Classic Metal Works 2000 series Crown Vic Police Police Cars. This is the unmarked white Vic with dog dish style wheels and you can find ordering information at Police & Emergency Vehicles. June 3, 2002: June starts out with a bang of new releases. We have the wonderful reissue of the Hardcastle & McCormick Coyote. Last issued in 1985 the Coyote Super Sports Car from the Hardcastle & McCormick TV show has been a modeler's favorite. The old MPC kits have been fetching about $60.00 a piece, now 'us regular folks' can enjoy one for the Model Roundup discounted price of $8.90. For more information and a review of recent AMT releases go to AMT 2002. Revell has also been running the Model Car tools. In addition to the return of the Vanishing Point Challenger which sold out so fast last time, we have the always great reissue of the Monogram 1958 T'bird and the Revell Army Top Fuel Dragster. While Revell issued the Elvira Tbird a couple of times in the last 15 years, the true stock bird with the famous optional bubble-top custom has not been around for about 30 years. You can build her as a bone stock '58 top down convertible, as a stock up-top with hardtop, or as the very slick custom bubble top. When you look at this on the Revell 2002 page be sure to click the thumbnail pic to get a good view of the custom version. Finally, Revell has finally released the all new 1959 Corvette (2 in 1). This all new kit is modifed from the fantastic Pro-modeler tooling which Revell employed on the '58 Vette. They have streamlined it just like General Motors did for 1959. You see the black custom with flames in the Revell 2002 section, but rest assured she has stock wheels and a contest winning stock two-tone can also be easily achieved. That's it for now. As new kits come out we post them here first when they are available. Let's all have a great modeling Summer!

May 1, 2002: The 1972 Chevelles are here! I'll repeat, the 1972 Chevelles are here! Not issued since the mid-eighties, demand for this Chevy classic is intense. Collector kits were fetching $75.00. Now, we can all build 'em for the Model Roundup discounted price of $8.50! The kids today are doing the same thing with Citations, Acuras, Hondas, etc. These are today's hot rods, because these are the low cost light weight cars available to make into hot rods. A wise modeler understands the trend and connection to the past. I hope the kids find their way to these models and enjoy them as much as we will. Read on for more recent Model Car News.
